Testimonial: "Steel, I have to drop the tank. Its about 6 inches in. May have to replace the whole line. What kind of time frame would this require?"

  • Sean L'Heureux Oct 22, 2013

youll need to cut out your desired length with a line cutter then replace it with 3/8 steel line and 2 compression fittings i wouldnt recommend compression fittings but if your on a budget or dont have the time that would be an ok solution

You can replace this hose alone but check all rubber fuel lines for cracks.

SOURCE: 95 Camaro Z28 appears to be leaking antifreeze

if your rubber hoses are cracked and leaking then replace the hoses with proper size and length.
if the hoses are leaking where they connect to the metal fittings from the heater core then try and tighten up the hose clamps -- they could just be loose.

Why is fuel leaking from behind rear driver side wheel?

Paul; You probably have found the leak, which was a repair made by somebody else in the past. Ensure leak, rusted out, or crack is cut out of steel line before making below repair and follow all safety precaution when working around flammable fuels.
To do a cheap repair which is not necessarily the best remove and replace existing hose and clamps. Go get a length, enough (high pressure) rubber fuel hose, (4 gear clamps) to put over hose to double clamp connections on both ends of hose. This repair could last the life of the car easily.

My 2000 buick lesabre is leakin gas under the car from lines conected to the tank running to the engine

You just have to figure out where it is leaking and repair it. Cut out the bad part and use compression fittings and new line. The supply line is 3/8 inch and the return is 5/16 inch.

Fuel leaking from top of fuel meter body what causes this?

you need to replace the lines. the inner core must be split and leaking out on the outer core. cut the lines about 3 inch and use a line pipe repair kit. and fix. sometimes there is a bit extra on the lines so you can cut 10 or 20mm off the line and fit it to the tank line.

Gas leaks on right side by back tire

broken gas line ? cut line twice ( each side once) with pipe cutter (small plumbing tool) cut it long enough to be able to put the rubber hose you are buying, usually 6 inches of rubber hose for 4 inches of tubing cut off. remember to slide the 2 clips to hold the rubber hose secure and tighten them. test to see if it's good .

Can you replace the fuel pump without pulling the fuel tank

Unfortunately not. I have had some people install a aftermarket high pressure pump inline that has worked however i do not recommend this.
The job is actually not to back, remove most of the gas from the tank, remove the straps ( might need to replace them) and remove the tank partially to expose the fuel line connections. Remove the fuel lines and power connector then remove the tank. Remove the locking ring on top the tank, remove the pump and fuel level sender. Install new pump and re install.

How do you remove the gas tank from a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer?

remove battery cables. jack car up adn place on jack stands so the rear whells are off the ground. remove real drive shaft. on the bottom of the tankmaybe a skid plate. unbolt it. on the side of the tank buy the driveshaft tunnel is a metal sheild. it is held on by pop stars remove stars and sheil. at the back of the tank is the vent and filler hose. remove those. place a floor jack under the tank. unbolt the 2 straps. remove the 2 straps. lower the tank 4-6 inches. you have to unhook the purge line from the tank. it is a squeeze fitting. lower the tank 4-6 inches more. tremove the electrical connector. you will need quick disconnect tools. remove the 3 feul lines. GAS will leak out. lower the tank to the ground and slide out from under truck. remove any debris from the tank. you heed a aluminum flat drive bar and brass mallet. brass and aluminum will not spark. there is a metal ring that compresses the gasket. there is a plastic tang open.have helper hold it open. you need to move the outside metal ring counterclockwise till the ring is released. hit the metal flat edges of the ring. alternating on them until the ring unseats. pull the pump up on an angle replace pupm. good luck

Is there a filter in the old cop cars that can cause gas smell in the car

No, there must be a fuel line leak in the car that is giving you the gas smell in the car. Chances are it's going to be your return fuel line that is leaking and most of the time, the leak is where the nylon clips that hold the fuel line to the frame. It's just a pin hole for now and will get worst, the best and cheapest fix is to cut out the old rusted line and section in a fuel injected rubber fuel line and use a compression clamp to ensure not leaks. Try to make sure the section is no more then 3 inches, with an inch over on ether side of the fuel line. Good luck and this should cost you just under $15.00 and under an hour of your time.

How to replace fuel pump on a 2002 ford E-150 van in my driveway.

With a jack under the gas tank...unbolt the gas tank and lower the tank 8 to 10 inches until you can reach the small bolts ( in a 6 inch circle ) that fasten the fuel pump to the top of gas tank. You might need to remove hoses to tank to lower. Disconnect electrical lines to fuel pump and remove.

Crack in 1996 cherokee fuel line from gas tank. how do you replace it

find out what size the fuel line is then purchase two union fittings for that size, aquire a tubing flare tool in order to flare the ends of the 1 ft. length of tubing you will need to buy for the repair, cut out the damaged length with a tubing cutter making sure you have a clean oil drain pan handy because the gas may continue to flow from tank after the breach of the line, make sure there is an almost empty tank before attempting this job if possible, then take the nut and slide it over the cars cut fuel line that is to be repaired then choose the appropriate hole size on the flaring tool clamp it over the fuel line with about an 1/8 of an inch sticking out, then apply the flare making certain the nut is slid over the fuel line before flaring and it is facing the correct direction, after flaring remove the flaring tool and repeat as neccessary on the replacement section of tubing and on the other side of the fuel line to be repaired tighten up unions with two line wrenches at the same time and check for leaks.

1995 chevrolet pickup 1500, how do I remove gas tank

the fuel tank must be removed from the vehicle to replace pump or lift the box from the frame. If you remove the tank it is held up with two tank straps and the lines must be unhooked as you lower it. good luck unless you have access to a lift.
