SOURCE: heater blows cold air in my escort van

I take it the water level in the expansion tank is ok. You could have a blocked core in the heater. Also the heater could be leaking. You could try flushing the cooling system and checking for leaks and blockages.

SOURCE: E250, passenger van, heater blows

Hi, this is usually due to a failed blend door actuator, but it can also be the door itself. Look under the dash (around the middle) and find the actuator pictured below. Remove the actuator from the heater box, and check to see if you can turn the door hinge by hand. If not, you will have to remove the heater box and repair the door. If it works OK by hand, try reconnecting the actuator to see if the gear turns when you change the temperature setting. If not, remove the connector again and check to see if there is power on the pink wire with a black stripe when the key is on. If there is no power, repair the wire from the fuse box to the actuator connector. If there is power, replace the actuator. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Antifreeze leaked out overnight

So you are saying you'll have to find the source of the leak ?
The cooling fan would come on when the computer can't get a signal from the temp sensor. And the heater would blow cold if the coolant level was low.

Heater motor

Does it still blow air out of the vents? Or is it blowing cold air? If nothing is blowing out most likly just a blower motor try tapping it some its under glove box.If blowing cold air could be low on coolant needs to be press tested.

Check the metal part of the heater core lines at the firewall if you can get to them and see if one side is noticeable colder than the other. At least one of them should be hot or you have a bad thermostat. If both are hot than your hot/cold actuator inside is having a problem
