SOURCE: squealing noise coming from the belts while engine is running

take off your serp-belt and spin your water pump, alternator, idler pully and see what squeaks or feels rough. your water pump bearings may be bad. the only thing you can do is change it. dont forget to change your thermostat and antifreeze. FYI your antifreeze is made with lubricants in it for your water pump bearings.

My fiat doblo 1.9 makes a gulping noise when engine is switched off I have just changed timing belt pump crank and cam are all on their marks and van runs fine any ideas

gumbling sound when engine is off. ? this could be air trapped in the water system, its the only thing i can think off with the engine off. wait till the engine has cooled down and take the cap off and run engine add water or antifreeze to top up the water, do this till the fan turns on squeeze the pipes with out getting your hands in the way while engine is running and have the heater on full hot and number 1 on the fan settings. keep adding water etc while engine running until the fan kicks in or the bubbles stop forming. then the air is out of the system.

Belt pulleys can make that noise. So can crank bearings, right before they sieze up.

I was told its the waterpump that is making a load snorkeling noice what is its if not? almost like a dieseling noice also

Yes the water pump can make noises but there is also the belts that can make noises.
So pour some water when the car starts on the belt and pump area to see if the sound stops, if belt noise it will stop but if this is the water pump, the alternator bearing or the idler pulley , it must be checked.

Noisy near the belt area and one of the belts has

dear friend-you can carry out a simple test.have some water ready when starting up the engine,if noise appeares poar water over the belts, should the noise fade then you have a dry belt.if not it can be one of the jockey pulleys, the shining should not trouble as the back side of belt that makes it shiny.

Can a alternator PULLEY make a chirping noise?

It's possible that the alternator is making the chirp noise (bearing) but I would try this first. Start the engine and allow the engine to idle and open the hood and take a spray can of WD40 and shoot a short burst onto the bottom side of the belt and pulley. Dont spray allot as this will cause the belt to slip. The WD40 is to lube the pulley grooves and belt a slight bit. Hope this works!

Tapping noise sometimes

Just add oil, or better yet get an oil change, your oil is obviously low, antifreeze is not a fix all.

Engine noise on area of pulleys and sometimes engine tries to sto

Don't know if this helps. Had squeel in belt area. Occasionally engine would stop when squeel got loud and sometimes engine would try to quit while going at various speeds. Found tensioner pulley was bad and changed it. Still squeeled and engine would stop when squeel got loud. This time while sitting in yard. Further checking found binding in power steering pump. Will be putting on new one tomorrow. Hope it works. Will update.
