Hello,

If you buy the parts online at like Amazon about $20-50 each piece.
If you use a local auto parts store about the same perhaps a little more. If you have the ball joints done at a shop several hundred plus you pay double for parts. Some shops will install parts that you buy thus you pay for the labor.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: what does it mean replace upper and lower ball joints tie rods 2000 lincoln ls

they are front suspension pieces, and yes it is costly, but its not just the parts, there's labor also, and another mechanics opinion would be good.

How to replace tie rod

You will need a tie rod fork.
Put jacks under frame
Measure the length of the tie rod exposed to the spindle.
Loosen the adjuster (they have a tendency to be stubborn).
pop the tie-rod off ball joint using the fork
replace the tie-rod and adjust as close as possible.

You may need an alignment if you can't get it close.

How much does it cost to have the front end work done?(Suspension)

Depends on how much needs to be replaced. I had my front end done last month at NTB Woodlands, TX. I had shocks, struts, ball joints (everything but tie rods) $1200.00. Mine is a 1997 Towncar. The tie rods were fine. I also put Michelins back on the car and it changed the ride to almost new and also takes the strain off the front end. I will never buy different tires again. The other tires were hard and actually caused wear and tear on the front end. Do some research and you will find alot of information. Cathy (Spring TX)
