Question about Volkswagen Cars & Trucks
Hi, all my interior lights work when I switch my headlights on apart from the clock mounted up near the roof has no back light, the heating instrument panels (fan, heat and position) dont light up and when I open the door or remove the key the light at the roof in the front does not come on, all other interior lights work, any suggestions, fuses seem ok
So--there is no back-light on the heat panel and roof mounted display?
Similarly to a gauge cluster--there are bulbs that produce the back-light. I have a 90's vehicle and I had to replace the bulbs in the heat panel and on the gauge cluster. On some vehicles however you have to take the whole car apart just to access these bulbs. So--just take your time, consult a book, and check the bulbs to see if this is the culprit.
Hope this helps.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.
