2003 honda odyssey v6 exl, I want to know what are the signs of a bad torque convertor, and how to tell if a sensor is the problem

a bad torque converter will not drive or will rattle from the loose blades internally
The blades can fold over during violent operation but it is unusual
most no drive situations can be found to be a result of torque converter clutch servo/ solenoid failures or wiring problems
if you have the fault codes read there should be a code to that effect

Having some pinging odd noises from my engine when i put my foot down alittle in my 2000 honda torneo euro r shouldi use some octane boost and will i see any change at all ?

The pinning noise you hear is called detonation and occurs from ignition occurring before it is supposed to. It is from a wrong air -fuel mixture ratio that will be occurring from the cpu being unable to correct the issue from faulty sensors. Run the fault codes and see which unit has failed.

Torque converter

Transmission will be fine. The torque converter is the oil filled automatic clutch that transmits power for engine to gearbox. If it only does it between second and third, then the transmission is faulty, not the torque converter. You want both changing. The money is in the labour, so economically it makes sense to do both. At 91,000 miles, you need a new car.

P0740 code showing in my 2000 Honda Odyssey

P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction
The problem could be the torque converter itself or the sensor circuit for the clutch.
Best to have a Transmission Expert look at it to see if any further damage has occurred.
