Check your vaccum hose, of its loose it can cause the motor to shake during idle and it can reduce your brakes power.

That is your brake light switch that need to be replaced. Ask your dealer if he can do an "N4" and it might be free.

SOURCE: 97 jetta GT alarm won't let car start. how can i disable?

If you not good with a wrench don't try to remove it. I am not sure but you can try two different things one lock and unlock the driver side door about 3 time then put the key in the ignition and try to start it, someone else said to remove one of the battery cables wait about twenty min. or so and replace it and try. If you do have to have the guy fix make sure he takes it out and gives it to you.

SOURCE: gear shift won't move out of park

safety switch on brake pedal. common cause is a wire breaking off. there are 1 to 2 wires going to this switch. It is located on the brake pedal bracket above the foot pad.

My car drives fine when i shift to thired to fourth into fifth my motor runs and the tranmission seems to drag those gears could it be fluid manual or vacume hose

does it seem like the motor goes faster than the car if so than your clutch is slipping and in need of replacing, but if it feels like its holding you back then it could be the emergency brake is hanging up and slightly applied maybe the cable is frozen or something of that nature if so jack up car and spin wheels at rear to see if they are free wheeling, hope this helps you.

Jetta overheats when on highway

Yes, the flush and new anti-freeze well help greatly. i would also inspect tech thermostat and water pump as well. replace both if found to be defective.

check the operational value of the cooling fans as well. they should cycle in intervals and, run when the AC is activated.

2001 VW Jetta has problems accelerating at random times. check engine light goes on and it pretty much stalls as you push on the gas but then when you let off and push the gas again it either runs fine or...

It could either be your transmission, so check the fluid in that. if that is fine than check the plug that goes into your block. I had the a similar problem with my jetta and that was all it was, a pretty quick and easy fix. also check all your spark plug wires

Steering gear box knock

Lube your intermediate steering shaft. It is very easy. Remove the bolt in the shaft that you can see from under the hood and push the steering shaft up toward the firewall. Where the shaft goes into itself place some grease and work it back and forth. This will last quite a while, but is easy to do again if need be. Replace the bolt and you should be go to go. The dealer will charge you $150 to do the same job. The knock goes away as soon as you test it out.
