SOURCE: shift light replacement

First, the bulb is a GE 158.
There are two screws near the back of the parking brake cover (one each side). Move the seats forward to remove them.
After removing the parking brake cover (helps to raise the parking brake), there are two screws at the back of the shift console.
Remove those two screws. Pull out the four 'serrated' push pins under the dash area holding the shift console (two each side). Then pull the cup holder up and out.
You should then be able to remove the shift console. One suggestion- if you need to move the shifter out of park, make sure your parking brake is on! There is a shift release you can depress with a small screwdriver under the little button/tab to the right of the shifter. (Can also be reached under the console with your finger after removing the cupholder.)
The bulb holder is on the driver's side. Only one I assume.
Good Luck,
Robert

SOURCE: How do you take off the center console for a 2004 f 150

My mother had the same problem in her 2004 SC Lariat. All you have to do is pop up that center console where the gear shifter is (it's connected by pop in fastners) and push that white default button on the side of the gear shift. After you get tired of doing this for a bout a week, the dealer will try and charge about 6-$700 bucks for this piece. Luckly we got it replaced for nothing...Thank God!!!

I forgot what the dealer said why was it malfunctioning; you might want to try and see if there is a recall on it first before you go and shell out some money. Hope this helps.

I'm actually surfing through yahoo to fix another problem I'm going through...the flashing climate control unit. Yeah, her's went out and I'm trying to fix it instead of going to the dealer.

Backup Lamps
The TURN SIG fuse in the console fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to park neutral position switch. When the gear selector lever is in the REVERSE position, power is supplied to both of the backup lamps. The backup lamps are grounded at G401 and G402.
Do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are ?
DTC B2552
The body control module (BCM) controls the backup lamp relay. The BCM grounds the backup lamp relay control circuit energizing the backup lamp relay. The BCM connects directly to the center console fuse block with no external wiring between them.

Where is the location of fuse for the light in the stick shift.

There is no fuse specific to this light. This light is fused with the park lights. If the park lights work, suspect the shifter bulb to be burned out

I turn off the car, but key will not come out of ignition. Lock on shifter doesnt work. I can shift without pushing button on shifter. This is an automatic.

We had this problem on 06 and it is the shift button that doesn't pop out. You may be able to pull it out so you can remove the key for now. We had ours fixed under warranty (replaced)

Loss of blower fan, turn signals and won't come out of park

Check for a blown fuse. This vehicle has a safety feature that allows it to switch gears only when the brake pedal is depressed and the ignition is turned forward. When the brake pedal is depressed it sends a voltage signal to the shift interlock solenoid that then allows it to shift. You can manually unlock the shifter by inserting a pin into the arperture on the left side of the center console. Push the locking lever rearwards to allow the selector lever to be moved. Also check to see if your brake lights are working this is where the shift interlock solenoid gets the voltage from if they are working chances are the shift interlock solenoid has gone bad.
