Alex, that sounds like something a bad fuel mix sensor would cause. It is usually located behind the air filter and would be the only thing there with a couple wires attached to it between the filter and the engine. I am not familiar with Izuzu but check to see if you have one as I described and if you do then that is most likely the culprit to your problem. If so replace it. Not a big job.
Hey swanine, thanks a lot for this suggestion. Have you had experience with a similar problem and solution before? I will definitely look into this in the engine and research it to see if I can locate the sensor. I will get back to you on this on Tuesday since I'm on a double shift all of Monday. Talk soon. -Alex
Identical to yours but it was on a 4L Ford Explorer V6
very awesome and comforting to hear I may be at a solution. thanks again and will get back to you when I can get under the hood tomorrow. take care.
hey swanwine, so ive located both the throttle position sensor and the air valve sensor on the engine with help from autozone. The guy there recommended switching out the valve one. He said there was really no way to test and know which one was bad. any thoughts? And which of those were you thinking was the problem? Or could it be a bad MAP sensor. The guy mentioned that as well.
I woul'd go with the air valve sensor as that was what caused my grief.
Once again, thanks a ton for your help and all. Much appreciated. Yeah I almost bought that sensor today but got timid since I didn't know which to replace and thought about taking it to this recommended shop in town for free diagnostic. Wouldn't be until next week though so i'm kind wanting to just get the sensor anyways in hopes it will solve it.
I'll keep you in the know thanks.
Hey swanwine,
Hey swanwine,
oops, accidentally sent that early, anyways. I went ahead and replaced the idle air sensor, and it seems to be doing better, but sometimes still a flux in idling. Although I would assume that won't help me with my problem on accelerating... Any thoughts on why the truck is still surging or not accelerating strongly. It holds back and then surges a bit like it wants to go normal, but then other times it runs perfectly strong while accelerating. Thanks a lot.

SOURCE: i have a 1994 gmc safari. It seems to have a smooth idle at times
Im not sure if you got it fixed yet! It could possibly be idle air control valve. But here some more suggestions! I had a 94 Safari van 4.3 liter I was working on for about three days and I finally figured out what was wrong with it. It would run fine for a couple minutes and as soon as I hit the gas and let off it would surge, but anyways I ended up changing the distributer, after the fuel pump and filter, mass air flow sensor, egr valve, idle air control valve, map sensor, and ignition module. So that might sove the problem if you were on the same track with it as I was. Hope this helps ya!
SOURCE: 1998 lincoln continental idles very rough
Has your engine gotten wet? Sounds like water around your spark plug boots down in the port around the spark plugs. If there is any water down there, make sure you blow it out with air compressor prior to removing plugs, or it will drain directly into the engine. Another scenario, could be EGR valve or related parts. Is your check engine light on? With that rough of a ride, it should be. If it is an auto parts store should be able to read the code to help pin point the problem. Good Luck!
SOURCE: Idles okay, runs rough when gas applied
Either a bad MAP sensor, or TPS. What is the code for the check engine light? This will most likely tell you what it is.
SOURCE: I have a 93 mercury topaz 4cyl 2.3L that stalls
It sounds to me like you replaced everything but the most likely cause of a stall while driving...The crank sensor.
