2008 pontiac g5 problems

My gear shift is getting to be extremely difficult to go from drive thru park. Very weird because it's almost like it's sticking some how. Tonight I could not put it fully in park so not knowing what else to do I drove around a bit then returned home and tried it again. Thankfully it worked. If someone could help me that would be fantastic Thank you Beth

SOURCE: Gear shift rebuilt now my car won't go into park....

generally the first place I would look is under the hood at the linkage on the transmission. it's has a lever with a bracket for the cable.generally the hard shifting is due to a poor adjustment where the lever does not travel as far as it should. first step is to remove the cable from the shifter bar. then move the shifter bar to the park position manually. you will notice you will have to loosen the jam nut for the cable this will allow you to move the cable into the right adjustment. once you have done the adjustment tighten down the jam nut and rehook the cable to the shifter bar you will find that you can shift into park more easily... please rate

Have a code check done and see if speed sensor or controller is working properly. if bought from a dealer, get it back there asap...they can't sell it in that condition!!...No test drive before you ploped down your money?

SOURCE: wont shift back from 4x4 low, to 2x2

I also have a 2002 Envoy. Shifting to and from 4wh and 4wa can be done on the fly but shifting to 4wL has to be done stoped and while in neutral. Try that. Otherwise I'm afraid its a new computer for you. Its located under the left rear seat and you need a loan for one.

Our 2003 Chevrolet Malibu is extremely difficult to shift from Park into Drive or Drive into Park. How can this be loosened up?

pull the handbrakes before you put to P (park) or you can use the P directly after car fully stops, avoid the slopes and use the handbrakes its better for the machine and gear also.

Automatic 1996 Pontiac Bonneville wont shift gears

Transmissions have so many parts so it's difficult to diagnose. I would have the transmission filter changed first. Usually that is the most common shifting problem. If that doesn't fix the problem it may be a little more costly.

There was a recall on this type of issue. Check with your GM dealership for the recall on the gear shift indicator, perhaps it can be fixed with this recall.

My 2008 Pontiac G5 has a pulsating feeling if I'm driving in town

A bad tire will cause that sensation at lower speeds. Also a bent rim. Do you feel it in the steering wheel?

Was the ignition switch ever recalled on the 2009 chevy cobolt

No,
Recalls for
  1. STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 CHEVROLET COBALT AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 PONTIAC G5 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THE DRIVER MAY EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST THAT COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING.
  2. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT. GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING 276,729 MY 2009 BUICK ENCLAVE, CHEVROLET COBALT, HHR, MALIBU, TRAVERSE, GMC ACADIA, PONTIAC G5, G6 AND SATURN AURA AND OUTLOOK PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLES SAFETY STANDARD 102, "TRANSMISSION SHIFT POSITION SEQUENCE, STARTER INTERLOCK, AND TRANSMISSION BRAKING EFFECT", AND FMVSS 114, "THEFT PROTECTION AND ROLLAWAY PREVENTION". ON SOME OF THESE VEHICLES, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP MAY NOT BE FULLY ENGAGED. IF THE CLIP IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED, THE SHIFT LEVER AND THE ACTUAL POSITION OF THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT MATCH. WITH THIS CONDITION, THE DRIVE COULD MOVE THE SHIFTER TO "PARK" AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT BE IN "PARK".
If you are having a problem with your ignition switch, repost question with full details.

I have a 2007 Pontiac G5 which will not go completely into the park position (automatic) which will not allow the key to completely shut off and be removed, meaning the lights stay on. Will start and...

typically your problem is in the column. That's for cars that have the shifter on the column. What's happening is the gears aren't lining up to put the shifter in the park position. Unless mechanically inclined you'll have to take into a shop.

Changing the gear shift knob on the G5?

I had this problem for months i wanted a new one that looked better. Here is what i did to remove it. First i went by where the boot ends on the shifter. If you notice it looks like a separate part than the shifter shaft. Take the bottom part that looks different and squeeze then turn counter-clockwise. After just a small turn, not even 45 degrees, pull down and it should reveal the metal and four plastic clips that are holding down the shaft. I then tried to remove this but could not so i did as the original post and removed the top with the gears on it and as i was pulling up on this, the whole thing came off revealing just the metal shaft. The plastic clips at the bottom were just there to help hold the knob from coming off. I hope this is helped some
