Check the fuses under the dash, there may also be fuses in the engine compartment

not fuses and no power to light switch

  • Jerry Radcliffe Oct 21, 2013

you must check these fuses with a meter, you cant tell if they are blown just by looking at them, and if you have no power to the switch, and your fuse is good, and you have power before and after the fuse, then you have a loose connection at the output of the fuse box, as there is no other connections between the two

SOURCE: 1986 oldsmobile cutlass turn signal not working

OMG. Someone with a car older than my '87 toyota. Possibly a bad switch, but first locate your turn flasher, maybe that is bad, easier to try than another switch. Turns should have a fuse, too. check that.

Dash and tail lights not workjng brake and turn signal on passanger side not working

The dash and tail lights are on two different circuits, and the brake and turn signals are on different circuits, so at least 4 circuits total.
I would start at the headlight switch and check for power on the first two issues.

Tail lights don't work on 83 cutlass supreme

I assume you checked the bulbs and they were good? It's possible that the sockets have gone bad and need replacing. The tail lights are fused through the instrument panel lights. that fuse should be in the middle of your fuse box, marked "instr". If the fuse is good check to see if the dash lights come on when you turn the headlight switch on. If they don't then change the headlight switch. hope this helps.

I have a 82 cutlass 2dr. I checked all the fuses and replaced brake peice behind petal but I have no brake lights. The lights in the back work when turn signals are on and even all regular lights come on...

check the wiring to the rear brake lights fo r voltage. If none you have an open wire between the bulbs and the brake light switch you already replaced

Headlight and tail lights

Some cars automatically turn running lights or headlights on for added safety. Perhaps yours does. It should tell in your manual.

There seems to be a unwritten rule that the tail lights are on the same wire as the dash board lights ... if you have no dash board lights, neither do you have tail lights. There is a blown fuse somewhere, your job is to find the wire causing the trouble and it is likely at a most inconvenient place near a hinge.

Good luck with your repair.
