Question about 1999 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

1 Answer

I'm looking into buying a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 ZR2, it's automatic, and everything seems to be in good shape, except that it revs high (up to 2500) in first gear, and then has rough shift into second. All other gears seem to be fine. Could this be a major problem, or is it normal?

SOURCE: slight miss in engine, hard shift from 1st to 2nd long 2nd gear

Check both O2 sensor(s) and catalytic coverter.. P0420 means catalyst below threshold. Also check the sensor at the transmission and solenoid.

Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa.

There isn't really much that you can do except for call the locksmith. The Chevy blazer has very good anti theft door lock mechanism. Sorry man.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day.

I have a 1999 Chevy s10 zr2 pickup, when i start it it makes a ticking noise in the engine after it warms up it stops

This is a common complaint. What it is is the a lifter making noise because it has lost its prime (oil that is supposed to stay in the lifter to keep it lubricated). To make the noise stop try using some Lucas Oil Treatment or oil stabilizer. You can pick this up at your local Advance, Napa Auto, or Auto Zone parts dealer.

Hope my advice is helpful and you get your S10 in tip top shape.
