Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My 2008 ford escape won't start. I drove to work fine but when leaving for break I tried turning over and it just keeps clicking lights and radio work. Everything on dash board is working. I called and got it jump started ran it for an hour turned off but couldn't get it to start again. What could it be?? Starter? Battery? Not sure what to try next

Had this yesterday on a 94 Voyager we were given. Disconnected the starter power wire (follow the red wire from the battery down). Cleaned terminal on starter, re-attached, started fine

SOURCE: 2007 chevy cobalt ls won't

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

SOURCE: 06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

Try locking and unlocking the doors with the key fob to see if it corrects the problem. You can also try using the key and locking and unlocking the drivers door only

Turn your head lights on and try starting it if your lights dim way down or go out. try jump starting it. Your trunk release takes more power than your radio to work.

My 2008 Ford Escape has power. Lights work, wipers, everything works that has power but when I try to turn the key to start it nothing happens. I mean I don't even hear a clicking noise

Check the relays and fuses in the Power Distribution box under the hood. If all are good check the Alarm circuit ignition kill switch. If you didn't get the Alarm built into the vehicle but had it installed after you bought it remove the fuse from the Alarm power line to disable the kill switch. I did have this problem once and it turned out to be the battery on mine, a 2005 with Alarm built in. Unless you have the Hybrid version you could get in 2008 the vehicles are basically the same.

Try turning the key on for ten minutes, then turn it off,and back on,leave it for ten minutes, then turn it off,and back on for ten more minutes, then off,a total of 30 minutes, then try and start, this relearns the fob.
