You'd probably have to take it in to get it diagnosed, but I'm going to guess that it's the electronic throttle body.
The throttle body and throttle position sensor are in the same unit and if one goes bad, you have to replaced the whole thing.

This will cause high idle, stalling, hard shifts and irratic throttle.

Idle too high

Sounds like your idle curb sensor is shot. Did you replace the shift sensor by any chance, this also could make the vehicle shift hard. Did you change the fluid and screen when the trans was replaced?

It may be a vacuum leak that is causing the high idle and shifting problem. Check all the vacuum hoses for cracks or to see if any have come unplugged. Hope this helps.

98 ford explorer high idle

Its either a faulty idle air control valve or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. My bet would be the idle air control valve. If you pull the vacuum hose off the fuel regulator or the map sensor and fuel runs out then the regulator is bad.If you replace the control valve then you have to reset the computer.

Automatic transmission shifts hard into low grear when stopping or slowing down

The car is idled to high. This is something I can tell you how to fix but it is not a simple fix due to the computer controlled idle. Reply

1993 F150. Idles very high when cold but will

sounds like 2 different problems..about the high idle, for example my 94 Bronco had a problem with the throttle sticking,it wasnt closing all the way,so i took apart the linkage at the throttle body and found that the shaft that the linkage pivets on was dirty so the shaft would not move easily on it.If i could put a picture on this i would, but dont know how..the part of the linkage im trying to point out i believe is where the cable connects from the gas pedal,on top of the shaft is a C clip, pull off that clip and pull the shaft off by turning back and forth while lifting at the same time.clean the shaft with sand paper or emery cloth and grease and for the shifting hard and check engine light, most likely its the vehicle speed sensor bad, thats if when you put it in gear and it hits hard and when it shifts into the next gear it hits hard. That sensor is about $ shouldnt have to worry about resetting the computer,an OBD11 computer system resets itself after so many revolutions of the engine,in a Ford

While driving car has trouble shifting into gear , and when parked it idles to high.

Make sure high idle linkage is allowing it to kick down after it warms. otherwise back out idle screw.
