Check you coolant temp sensor ,If it is bad it will be reading{ 40 degrees below zero }and this will cause a rich condition due to the computer thinking it is that could outside, which requires more fuel .:)

Every time it starts raining truck starts missing and cutting out it's a 97 f 150 ford 4.6 motor.

Possibly a plug wire or cracked distributor cap. I'd take a spray bottle and while it's running (be careful not to get your body parts in danger of the fan) spray some water on the cap area. If everything seems fine, you could spray down each plug wire at a time. See if you find the culprit that way. For a vehicle so old, if you haven't done a tune up lately. It's probably a good time. Replace the distributor cap and rotor. Plugs and wires.

Why does my 1985 f 150 run rough and backfires

So many possibilities. I have an 87 F150 myself. Most common things to check are fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor button. replacing all this should solve your problem.

K my 460 runs like **** its missing and number one plug was black...i changed wires- plugs -and cap and now runs worse and blowing white and blue smoke....whats wrong with it?

give me more info about your plug, is it black by oil or black powder from gas ?
in the other hand, smoke white is a motor cold on winter, smoke blue is oil inside motor, smoke black is gas not burned,
so be shure exactly what color is...

1989 Ford Probe Rough Idling...Could it be warned sparked plugs?

Hi Gina.... Rough idle could be a number of things. The easiest and cheapest thing you could do is to replace the fuel filter. Usually they will run just a few bucks at the local auto store. If that doesn't do the trick, try to see if your car is smoking at all and try to determine if it is blue, black, or white smoke. Usually a blue smoke is oil, black is usually fuel richness, and white is coolant. White and blue are the most serious. If you are just burning extra fuel, you might need a tuneup consisting of new sparkplugs, maybe new sparkplug wires, new distributer cap, and distributor rotor. This might be a good time the change the oil and oil filter as well as check the other fluids such as transmission, coolant, and brake. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

94 f-150 runs rough

The distributor cap and rotor should be changed if this does not help replace the ignition module located within the distributor Headers increase the local temperature near the spark plug boots make sure you have a thick high quality spark plug wire boot surrounding the spark plugs, an old timer trick is to start the truck up cold at night in a dark local and spray the plug wires and dist. cap with a light mist of water to detect any weakness in the ignition wiring, any arc outs see must be adressed.
