SOURCE: air suspension 2002 olds bravada

I have a 2002 Bravada w/air suspension. When the compressor is loud it is bad. I bought a new one for less than $300 off the net but after 6 months it is not inflating the rear even though it runs briefly after start-up. It is most likely the compressor check valve. The Compressor Service Kit costs about $25 at the dealership. My rear air springs went bad (right side first) with cracked rubber and leaking. The right side was always lower when it would inflate and would leak until the whole rear was down. New air springs are about $85 w/o shipping @ GMPartsDirect.com. Also, the sensor can go bad but my buddy who works on Bravada/Envoy said this is usually NOT the problem. Compressors go bad after a few years and the air spring rubber deteriorates causing leakage. If the air springs leak, the compressor runs alot more and wears out faster. I'm not a certified mechanic, but have replaced the compressor myself and it took about 2 hours. As for the Compressor Service Kit instructions- you can search "Bravada Letting You Down?" on the net and a tech gives full instructions on how to service the compressor. He states that the compressor check valve sticks and it will not build pressure to inflate the rear of the vehicle.

1999 olds bravada misfires a couple of times before starting

Hello Angela Hylton,

I always go for the fire, fuel & air first... but it starts... so
that's a really great indication... Could just need some fresh spark plugs... (ACDELCO R44LTS6) or a cold start valve ...

(get your OBD codes read FREE (See below).

~~ 4.3L V6 Plugged EXHAUST:

I've never found an elegant way to prove it...
So we'll just jump right into...

GET some liquid wrench Penetrating Oil and
soak the EXHAUST to CATALYTIC converter bolts
really well (couple of times).

If YOU OPEN the exhaust and the engine runs smooth...
you have found a PROBEM that will do both thing you are experiencing...

Now you have to figure if it is the CAT collapsing or a
MUFFLER BAFFLE blocking the out-flow.

(It's
happened to me twice... but I'm pretty old)
((
one converter & one muffler))

FREE... (
to get you in the door)

Might be easier just to take it to a muffler shop...
and
have them run your engine codes...

If you live in CALIFORNIA... we have DIFFERENT
parts, costs & requirements (of course).

((
Somebody's BROTHER-IN-LAW is getting rich)).

But look up your prices on line... FIRST.
(know your prices BEFORE going in).

Hope this helps!!

Have 2005 trailblazer check engine light on and code they gave me is P0410. secondary air injection sytem. where is this located

If you have a "Air pump installed on your TB then you need to replace pump and or check to make sure that the hose's are all connect to it prior to replacing the pump which is dependisng on which engine you have on the lower left side (passenger)
Models Affected
1999-2003 Chevrolet Blazer, S10
1999-2001 GMC Jimmy
1999-2003 GMC Sonoma
1999-2001 Oldsmobile Bravada
All with 2.2L or 4.3L Engine (VINs 4, H, 5, W -- RPOs LN2, L43, L35)
Condition
Some owners may comment on the check engine light being illuminated. Upon
investigation, the technician may find a DTC P0410 indicating there is a concern in the
secondary air injection system.
Cause
This concern may be attributed to water that may have collected in the AIR pump or the
vent solenoid and frozen or corroded the pump.
Correction
Replace the AIR pump and install a new inlet hose and solenoid tube assembly using
the following procedure:
1. Prep vehicle.
2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
3. Remove shield covering AIR pump.
4. Remove hose and vacuum lines from pump and solenoid.
5. Remove AIR pump inlet hose. Do not re-use.
6. Disconnect electrical connectors from pump and solenoid.
7. Remove pump mounting bolts and pump.
8. Transfer isolators from the old pump to the new pump.
9. Install new AIR pump and bolts to vehicle. Tighten the bolts to 17N·m (12.5 lb ft).
10. Route new hose assembly up between engine and fender. It should come up near
the area between the battery and the coolant bottle.
11. Connect new inlet hose to pump inlet.
12. Connect old outlet hose to pump outlet.
13. Connect electrical connector to pump.
14. Connect electrical connector for solenoid to connector on the new hose assembly.
15. Connect the hose with the white nipple to the vacuum source hose.
16. Connect the remaining hose to the shut off valve.
17. Install shield covering AIR pump.
18. Lower vehicle.
19. Remove coolant reservoir nut nearest the battery.
20. Route new hose assembly between the battery and the coolant reservoir with the solenoid on top.
21. Install the solenoid bracket onto the coolant reservoir stud and reinstall the nut
back into the vehicle.
22. Use a wire tie to keep the new hose assembly away from the engine. On four
cylinder engines, tie to the AIR outlet hose. On six cylinder engines, tie to an
available hole in the radiator fan shroud.

PO410B IN 1999 BRAVADA STILL RUNS GOOD

it refers to the air injection system. first i would find out if the pump(when engadged) is pumping air. you can do this by taking off the rubber hoses that go to the exhaust manifold and feeling for cold air. if in fact there is air, your next "probability" is the "1 way check valve/s" that allow the air to flow only one way. you can check this byh simply shining a flash light so you can see the metal portion and then pushing moderately with a screwdriver to if it opens.

I am wondering where the power steering pump is located on a 1999 bravada

Your power steering pump is located right in front. You have to take the upper fan shroud off and the serpentine belt.  You will need an a power steering pump pulley remover as well, but I think you can barrow one from auto zone. You will also have to disconnect the pressure and return hoses from the backside of the pump. Then remove the pump mounting fasteners and lift it out of the truck. Also on 99 4.3 liter you need to unbolt the filler tube from the air conditioning compressor.  ( call an auto parts store to see if you air system needs to be decompressed before removing the filler tube)
