Of course look carefully for a gas leak everywhere under hood even dripping on ground while engine is running in park with brake set another system on newer cars is a vapor recovery system that basically burns fuel vapor that's the dead space in top of your fuel tank so it won't leak out and damage the environment (helps your mpg as well) there are several tanks and tubes, valves that are assoc with this system that might need looked at , till u get it fixed take care to driving this with windows up gas vapor can have same effect as alcohol on the human body
could be a simple fix of a defective fuel tank cap or something a bit more complex

too bad you did'nt get the diesel passat there my fav's

SOURCE: i stopped for fuel yesterday and minutes after

If you had to add oil, more then likely there an oil leak could be a gasket or oil seal, where ever the leak is at it's falling on the exhaust manifold and burning the oil, that's what you smell. Have it check cause low oil will damage you engine.

Removal & Installation of fuel Regulators on
4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L Engine To Remove:
CAUTION
Three styles of fuel pressure regulators and fuel rails will be used in this model year. Each regulator has a different "footprint" that consequently changes the size of the receiving port in the fuel rail. The regulator retaining clips are specific to each rail-regulator design and cannot be interchanged.

Gas smell and burning smell from honda 1997

Could be two different problems.
If the check engine light is not on, I would look at the vapor canister for the gas tank. Its usually mounted in the engine compartment.
If you have a small oil leak, the fumes will be sucked into the passenger compartment thru the cowl vents.

Sounds like you have some significant carburetor or fuel line problems. I wouldn't drive this thing at all if you smell gas inside the car. Gas fumes are more explosive than gasoline itself. One small electrical spark and at best, you'll explode and die. At worst, you may end up with burns all over your body and spend the rest of your life in terrible pain.

That sounds like the "Porportioning valve" is defective.
You may want to go to your local library and check out a Chilton's, or some other repair manual for the "how to" to fix yourself or take it to a tech you can trust.

2006 f350 slowly lost power on the highway untill it comletely stalled and wouldnt start at all, I had to be towed.

Is this a gas motor or a diesel? Either way, there are a few things to check. If this doesn't help, reply or repost with more specifics. Either type of engine will do that if there is water in the fuel. Was it damp/rainy recently nad the tank less than half full? Did you just get fuel? Even if not, drygas or diesel fuel conditioner won't hurt. If it's a gas motor and you just got fuel, is it possible that diesel got put in the tank? I've seen it several times (once because a valve failed at the gas station) I figured it out by taking a gas sample and smelling it. If you let the sample sit for a while, the gas starts to evaporate and the diesel smell becomes more prominent.
