Question about 2006 Mercury Milan

1 Answer

I've had my Mercury Milan 2006 for about 3 months now. It's been making noises ever since I got it, the noises being squeaking while braking and a rattling noise while driving. I figured it was just a typical belt loose and thought nothing of it. But today, I went to back out of my driveway, and the power steering wasn't working at all. I parked again and a message displayed saying 'Check Charging System'. So at the moment it is un-drivable. I checked under the hood and the Power Steering fluid is right at the Minimum line. I don't know if these issues are at all related but I would love some help, as soon as possible. Thanks!

See if your belt is still on there. Sounds like you threw a fan belt (serpentine belt or drive belt)

If you can turn the pump pulley by hand, likely it's OK... If so, change the belt. if not, you know what you need to do.

SOURCE: When I turn right or left, a moaning sound

The sound should indicate low fluid. Your power steering fluid should be red...may look black depending on how old. Your manual will tell you where to fill.

Just look at it. There could be a few screws to remove or plastic plugs. Some remove by pushing a tab. all are at the front of the panel. Front meaning the furthest from the firewall.

Where is the horn located on mercury milan 2006

Safely raise and support front of vehicle, The diagram shows the tire removed, right front. Remove 4 screws in splash shield, pull down on splash shield to reach horn. The horn is number 4.
Just make sure the horn is the problem and not wiring circuit issue, somewhere.

Brakes make squeaky noises along with other noises

There are a numer of reasons brakes will squeak or squeal. Sometimes excessive dust acculation wll cause it, yet another cause is the TYPE of material the brake shoes are made of. The harder the brake shoe material , the more tendency to squeak / squeal. My suggestion is use high quality brakes such as OE brakes. Hope this helps.
