My toyota kr42 7k engine is consuming toooo much petrol. it will only go 230km on full tank need help

Sounds like it is running too rich and you will need to replace the fuel control module. If the exhaust is blowing black smoke then it will only be a matter of time before you get stranded on the road. You should also be experiencing a loss of engine performance especially going up hill.

That's only 17 or 18 MPG/U.S. Gal. Not very good for a Neon. When was engine serviced last, as in air filter, oil filter , oil change, and perhaps a scan for any trouble codes? What type of driving conditions?

this sounds like the cap is bad, or the return fuel line is plugged.

replace the fuel pump if the piece is broken off.and put a piece of high pressure fuel line.

Did you drain the fuel tank properly after finding water in the fuel? Water is heavier than petrol, and will drop to the bottom of the tank where it is picked up by the fuel pump.
I see you have drained the fuel, but did you take out the tank to make sure there is no water in the bottom or in the fuel filter, and finally make sure there is no water in the carburettor and fuel lines.

If a petrol engine then their is a gauze filter inside the fuel tank on the pick up pipe ,Unless you have been filling with fuel from cans you should never need to change a fuel filter ,diesel yes but petrol cars i have never changed a fuel filter on a modern car with a fibre glass tank ,the old metal tanks then yes but on modern cars ---?= never had a problem

Seems like lately our 2002 PT Cruiser has started consuming more gas than normal. We filled the tank up just before heading to Longview Washington. We are in Vancouver, Washington. Went up to Longview...


No idea to be honest without a play with the engine but i would check out the O2 sensors first as this would cause it to run rich ,these motors are pretty good on fuel especially the diesel manuals that i see although the petrol ones are not too bad as the ones i see have what look like a toyota engine in them and are always manual gearbox ,Use a automotive meter to check out the sensors although if this is a american market vehicle you should be able to read the OBDII

On petrol tank is conection from pump to engine.That conection come apart and car is full of petrol.What I can or have to do?


replace the fuel pump if the piece is broken off.and put a piece of high pressure fuel line.

Left petrol tank stays full, not feeding/emptying - BMW X5 4.6is


inside the tank there are 2 or 3 hoses that transfers the fuel to where the fuel pump is. check for leaky hoses.

No petrol getting to motor


if it is the efi model yes the pump is in the tamk,
if it is a carburetted version the pump is on the engine.
