DETECTION CONDITION
• If PCM detects TP sensor voltage at PCM terminal 89 below 0.10 V after engine start, PCM determines
that TP circuit has a malfunction.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• TP sensor malfunction
• Connector or terminal malfunction
• Open circuit between TP sensor terminal C and PCM terminal 89
• Short to ground circuit between TP sensor terminal C and PCM terminal 89
• Open circuit between TP sensor terminal A and PCM terminal 90
• Short to ground circuit between TP sensor terminal A and PCM terminal 90
• PCM malfunction

How do I hook-up satellite radio


Although it's about $50, this is the best FM transmitter I've found so far. I use it primarily with my MP3Player, but the concept is the same for your satellite radio. It should have a 1/8" audio plug.
Simply plug this little adapter in your cigarette lighter, plug the 1/8" cable between your Satellite radio and the adapter, and tune your radio to the station on the adapter (you can choose another station if there is already something playing on its default station).

How do I change the Throttle Position Sensor


Some throttle position sensors are adjustable. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
  • On older engines, correct adjustment is crucial to proper system operation.
  • On newer engines, this is not as important because the computer uses whatever reading it takes at idle as base voltage (adaptive learn strategy).
Incorrect TP sensor adjustment may cause:
  • Inaccurate idle speed,
  • Engine stalling, and
  • Acceleration stumbles.
Follow these steps to adjust a typical TP sensor:
  • Backprobe the TP sensor signal wire and connect a voltmeter from this wire to ground.
  • Turn on the ignition switch and observe the voltmeter reading with the throttle in the idle position.
  • If the TP sensor does not provide the specified voltage, loosen the TP sensor mounting bolts and rotate the sensor housing until the specified voltage is indicated on the voltmeter.

  • Hold the sensor in this position and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
Most throttle position sensors are made so that their adjustments are tamperproof. They have screws that are either soldered or staked.
To remove the switch, these might need to be drilled or filed off. After the new switch is installed and adjusted, the new mounting screws are restaked.

How do you replace the throttle position sensor


Removal & Installation
  1. Remove the idle air control (IAC) electrical connector (1) from the IAC sensor (4).
  2. Remove the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector from the MAP sensor.
  3. Remove the water pump belt cover.
  4. Remove the TP sensor retaining screws electrical connector (2) from the TP sensor (3).
  5. Remove the TP sensor electrical connector (2) from the TP sensor (3).

To install:
  1. Install the new O-ring on to the TP sensor.
  2. Connect the TP Sensor electrical connector (2) to the TP sensor (3).
  3. Install the TP sensor (2) on to the throttle body (1). Tighten the TP sensor screws to 2.3 Nm (20 inch lbs.).
  4. Connect the IAC electrical connector (1) to the IAC sensor (4).
  5. Connect the MAP sensor electrical connector to the MAP sensor.
  6. Install the water pump belt and tensioner cover.
  7. Perform the TP Sensor learn procedure:
  8. Turn the ignition to the RUN/ON position.
  9. Wait 1 minute.
  10. Turn the ignition to the LOCK/OFF position.
