Is there anyway to reset the car? I can still lock and unlock with the remote, but the ignition seems to have gone dead, and the immobiliser ...
its probably a break in the loom between the battery and starter motor, if you are sure it isn't the immobiliser, try running a live straight from the battery to the starter, MAKE SURE THE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR!! otherwise you could have a nasty accident, If the starter turns and the car starts then you know its a wiring problem, if the car doesnt start and was working before then it will be the immobiliser, as for programming the key, all that is for , is the central locking , the immobiliser chip in the key can only be programmed with specialist equipment
known faults is crankshaft sensor or immobiliser lock all doors by hand unlock by key fob and then physically check that everything unlocked as immobiliser will give trouble if there is a door or tailgate that doesn't lock /unlock hope this helps
you can leave it unlocked,as the immobiliser will take care of any potential thief, as if you dont have the actual key,you cannot start the car.the key is coded to the actual car and can never be duplicated.as far as the alarm is concerned, try this, put the key into the drivers door and unlock/hold the key over for 30 secs, the windows will go down, then lock/hold the key over, the windows will go up.wait 30 secs, then press/hold the unlock button on the remote for 30 secs, you have just reset the immobiliser......
Have you tried turning the alarm back on so that it goes off again, lock and unlock the car with your fob now, then enter the code.
This is because it might still be in the standard immobiliser mode.
If, when you switch the ignition on, you get a dash light on, the symbol is a car with a key overlaid, you have somehow activated the immobilser You could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, this may reset the immobiliser, If this does not work you will have to contact a Hyundai dealer to get the immobiliser unlock code.
There is a way to override the code, however you need the code number. The only other way is to sit in car with door shut, play with the central locking button on dash, locking and unlocking. While doing this occassionally turn the ignition on and off. If you do it long enough, you may find the immobiliser light goes out, if it does, quickly start the car.
I have just had same problem with my 2001 GTV. Main agent useless as usual. Turned out to be a coding problem with the immobiliser and the fitting of a new immobiliser "panel" solved the problem.
HI,WHEN YOU REMOVE DOOR PANEL,AT DOOR LOCK YOU WILL SEE PLUG WITH RED ITEM PULL THIS AND IT WILL RELEASE PLUG, GIVE IT A CLEAN,AND TRY LOCKS AGAIN. ALSO IF YOU HAVE PROBS WITH CODED BUTTONS,THEY DO WEAR,JUST LOOK IN YOUR HANDBOOK,AND CHANGE CODE WITH FRESH BUTTONS.THANKS
