Most auto parts stores provide a complementary service of getting a readout on any OBD II codes. Suggest you check if in your area any stores would provide you this service. The goal of the parts store would be to provide you with the parts necessary for the repair.
It is a quick process where they connect on the drivers side a code reader under the dash and read the codes. They will provide a printout showing the likely source of the errors.
Disconnecting the battery to reset codes is not recommended
