I have a 2010 tundra like turn the ignition to the off positions took the key out an the engine want stop running and the dash lights stays on help please

It is likely the ignition switch. Or you may not be turning the switch completely off. If you are turning the ignition switch off all the way, let a dealer replace it. If it goes bad soon after the dealer replaces it, they will replace it for free.

What is causing my Oldsmobile Alero to shut off after starting?

As for the lights being on many GM products do that right after the key is off but if you open the driver's door they should go off. Not sure if that model is part of the ignition switch recall or not. Due to numerous ignition switch problems I would have the ignition switch replaced. The key cylinder IS NOT the switch. The key lock cylinder operates a rod that in turn moved the ignition switch to various positions. Battery must be disconnected and care taken not to deploy the airbag while the switch is replaced. I think I would go with a after market brand such as Delphi rather than another AC Delco factory switch.

The engine shutting off after starting may also be the ignition switch not moving to the RUN position properly. Before doing anything else I'd replace the ignition switch then go from there if the two problems are not cleared up.

Car keeps running with key off - 1970 Chevrolet

I doubt that the switch is bad since you've already replaced it. Check underhood relays to see if one is staying on, feeding power back into the system. Does everything stay powered up if you unplug the ignition switch? good-day!

2004 olds alero 3400 eng.turn on key and all warning lights and gauges come up,then all goes off after 3 seconds, starter will not work, can start by jumping across starter and runs fine and shifts fine

Check for power at the switch wire when someone turns the key to start. I would say there is a break in the circuit of the thin wire between the starter & the ignition switch

2002 f350 will not shut off with key. with key removed dash lights stay on and engine continues to run must pull injector relay to shut down. the dash lights stay on as if you turned the key to accesory...

ok well this is where you might be incorrect... either you have a 12 volt wire bleeding scross or you have a bad ignition switch. the run wire off the ignition switch is the only thing that will keep it running unless you have a remote start then of course that could keep the engine running. you might want to start by making sure the ignition switch is beaking the signal to the PCM.

When I turn my car off the air conditioner still runs-I needed a jump the other day because it ran all night and wore the battery down.

OK, if the relay for the A/C fan is bad, then the radiator's fan will keep running after turning off the ignition. Also, if the fan for ventilation of the A/C in the cabin stays on after the ignition is turned off, the relay for that is bad.

Good luck on this repair.

My car will not start but my engine stays on with no key in the ignition. My ignition switch turns all the way over with no fricition.

Not too sure what you mean. If the car will not start how can the engine stay on? Do you mean the car will not start and only the engine light comes on? It sounds like the switch in your steering column needs to be replaced. There shouldn't be any lights on if the key is not in the ignition. Call a reputable shop in your area and ask what they charge to replace an ignition switch in the steering column for your car. Hope this helps.
