How often are you putting fluid In the bottle and how much fluid or have you every done it since it was new. Many times over time fluid will evaporate.
If it is a sudden lost that is something else. If a sudden lose of fluid it could be a leak in a hose, head gasket or intake gasket.

Would locate engine coolant drain plug?

Technically, if your hood is open, look under the front of the car, you must remove all the clips that hold the stone guard up.
At the bottom of the radiator is a round hole on your left side, insert a Phillips screw driver and turn left, coolant starts to flow.
Problem with removing the lower hose is it will splash getting everywhere, use a suitable pan and please recycle at your local recycling center.
Good luck

Is there a radiator drain plug or petcock on a 2009 Chevy Traverse?

no there is a drain , its just towards the center from the bottom outlet hose , it doesn't look too much llike a drain , as its black and is down inside a well (this guides the coolant out) the well is about 3/4 inch deep and the drain plug turns via a tiny wing nut

BUY YOUR RADIATOR HOSES FIRST MAKE SURE NEW HOSES MATCH THE OLD HOSES. BUY NEW RADIATOR CLAMPS AND HAVE EXTRA GALLON OF ANTIFREEZE. MAKE SURE ENGINE IS COOL IF YOU GOING TO CHANGE TOP RADIATOR HOSE REMOVE RADIATOR CAP OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP IF YOUR RADIATOR DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP FIND RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG.PLACE A CATCH PAN.OPEN RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG CATCH ANTIFREEZE. DRAIN HALF ANTIFEEZE IF YOU GOING TO REPLACE TOP HOSE AND DRAIN OUT ALL ANTIFREEZE IF YOU GOING TO CHANGE LOWER COOLANT HOSE TO WATER PUMP.WHEN DONE CLOSE DRAIN PLUG.PUT ANTIFREEZE IN A SAFE PLACE FROM PETS AND KIDS UNTIL JOB DONE. WHEN YOU REMOVE COOLANT REMOVE WATER HOSE CLAMPS THEN REMOVE RADIATOR HOSES PUT NEW RADIATOR HOSES AND CLAMPS ON HOSES TIGHTEN HOSE CLAMPS DONT OVER TIGHTEN. POUR ANTIFREEZE IN RADIATOR.CRANK ENGINE UP CHECK FOR LEAKS.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL WHEN THERMOSTAT OPENS ADD MORE COOLANT AS NEEDED.
