check the pivot pin for the gear lever at the turret at the top of the box. you can check the shift rail operation her if you take the turret section and gear lever of the top of the box.
very difficult to advise without heariing the noise ,opel vectra (vauxhall) nice motors these ,if noise stops in 5th then it could be the gearbox like the layshaft needle bearings caused by low or no oil in the gearbox ,remember 5th gear doesnt use the layshaft its on the end of the mainshaft behind the cover next to the wheel arch
Comonents for cars these days are made in and imported from all over the world, so that is probably right. The transmission oil is cooled in the lower radiator tank and the advice you have is that it is leaking water into the oil cooler tubes. Certainly possible!
opel vectra this vehicle is called here in europe ,auto transmission ??havent a clue but i wouldnt mind betting its inside the gearbox ,looked on an astra i have for spares in the garden and nothing obvious on outside as i think this is the same gearbox used, anyway if your near alicante spain i have a spare box on this car just pick it up .
Only way to check out the problem for sure is to drop the gearbox out and examine the clutch. Having gone this far in to the internal workings. It would make best sense to replace the clutch and pressure plates. Oil leaks can be repaired at the same time. No need to go to a main dealer because clutch replacement on a V6 is technically a very similar and no more difficult to replacement on any other Vectra
