When ignition is on you will need to get a fuel pressure gauge to test the fuel pressure in the fuel rail, if you can't acquire one, you may want to consider replacing the fuel pump as it may be weak. but before that, remove and replace {u can try cleaning} the mass air flow sensor. hope this helps.

Fuel pressure has to be confirmed with a pressure gauge. Post the psi readings so I can see them. One digit off is enough to cause the problem you are having.

SOURCE: Fuel pump not pumping fuel

See if you have pressure at the fuel rail by cracking a fuel line open when cranking. If it is under pressure, it should spray. If it only drips, the pump may not be working. You can always pull the tank down some and check the voltage at the pump connections. Voltage at the pump and no pressure at the line usually mean a failed pump that you will need to replace.

There should be a Nissan techical service bulletin out that covers some models of bad fuel pumps. Call your dealer with a VIN number to check the bulletins that may have been serviced on your specific vehicle.

Hello, first is it carburetor or fuel injected engine? When was the last time it was tuned up?
If carbureted engine then the carburetor will need to be rebuilt or replaced with a rebuilt carb.

If fuel injected engine. low fuel pressure, faulty fuel injectors, new air cleaner, throttle position sensor might need to be replaced, air flow sensor could be faulty, broken vacuum hoses, plug fuel filter, faulty fuel pump, new spark plugs, etc. All of these things need to be checked out.

You are probably not getting very good fuel mileage. Couple of things will be needed. rebuild carburetor, new filters, and a tune up. GB...stewbison

Then its got to be a problem with the fuel delivery. You need to check that you're getting fuel from the tank.

1) Does fuel get to the filter? If not, is there an airlock or debris in the fuel pipe
2) Does fuel get past the filter? - If not, replace the filter.
3) I'm not sure if you have a carb. or injectors, but one or more of the injectors could be blocked. If a carb., fuel inlet jet may be blocked.
4) Finally, is the air filter good and clean.

Have you done a back pressure test on it? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, unbolt exhaust at heads or before the catalitic converter/converters. Try starting then driving it then. If that solves your problem, your catalitic converter/converters are clogged.
