Question about 2002 Renault Clio

Hi guys ive brought a clio 2003 1.5 dci 80 dynamique all fine went out next day and it wouldn't start turned over loads of times but wuldnt start brought new glow plugs and glow plug regulator still does same thing but heres the weird part if I put jump leads on the battery it starts first time so I thought hmmm maybe battery got new heavy duty battery and same problem any ideas? p.s when she does fire up it drives and runs fine couldn't fault it just dnt like to be started from cold oh and if I have it running for 5-10 minutes then turn off if I try to then start again a little delay but starts bit confused on whats goin someone please help me thank you I appreciate it :D

SOURCE: Renault Clio dci - 2004 - wont start 50% of the time

Could be the start interuptor. You have a casing around your lock with a coil in it which communicates with your key. If you remove the plastic under your steering wheel, you can rotate and pull this a little outward so it will be closer to your key. This worked for me.

Check the relay box. If its like the clio the fumes from the battery corrode the fuse/relay box.

Its a renault from the past and no end of problems with these cars regarding the electrics ,they give me headaches and nightmares big time ,but try the battery terminals as the battery is under the seat and i have had problems with the earthing point here many a time.mechanically these cars are good but the electrics ??? i scream and swear at them

Un do the nuts & bolts remove the old one replace it with the new one and do up the nuts & bolts

Central locking wiring clio


I had a problem where my key fob did not lock or unlock the car, Renault Clio Dynamique, but the central locking button in the car did still work and engine turned over fine. Changed the key fob battery still nothing. Read online about disconnecting and reconnecting the car battery, (negative only) and hey presto it worked! All working fine now!

check the earht wire on your battery, if its worn have it replaced

bottle is at the back of the engine bay to the right as you look at it.

Not starting.


Try asking the dealership if the TDC sensor needs replacing. The other issue is a loose wire connection on the solenoid....

Geartick very loose


pull rubber cover up and look into gearchange and no doubt you will see a plastic bush loose or split

Check your plugs again, make sure they aren't gunked up already or covered in oil or anything. Double check the spark gaps on them as well.
