Question about Dodge Ram 1500
It sounds as though, there is a whole bracket that may have come loose, remove the door trim to analyze it, you may just end up having to use cable ties to hold them into place so it doesn't bind with the window mechanism. hope this helps.

Remove two bolts holding caliper on and pull up as hard as you can on the caliper. Wiggling back and forth at the same time helps.

Open up the tail gate, you will see two torque screws on the inside beside the tail lights. take these out, this will free up the housing and you can change it from there.

this sounds like you have an injector leaking and is dripping raw fuel into the combustion chamber this would explain the miss and the white smoke.

Sounds like the link rod to the latch are jammed in the locked position by something inside the door or it came off. Any way, you have to remove the door panel to get access to it.
