Question about Cars & Trucks
P1631 keeps engaging how do I fix it?
This sounds strange but it works! Clear all codes, turn the key to the on position and leave it there for 25-30 min, a battery charger or jump box is recommended but not absolutely ness as long as all accys are off. then try to start it, if problem persists see a gm dealer.

I would replace the 4 x 4 actuating switch located top rear of transfer case. The switch has a 2 wire harness hooked to it. The same thing happened to mine. Cost me $80.00 and 30 minutes.

By the way, if that happens again (Same thing happened to me) It was inside the front diff. That vacuum actuator that sits on the passenger side that has a vacuum hose going up to it has a built in cable that plugs into the front diff. There are little springs that go bad and there is no tension on the cable. It retracts but doesn't engage the axle.
It's 3 bolts, then pry it open just enough to get access to the spring that holds the cable together. ;) That's how I fixed my problem permanently
