Question about Audi A4

1 Answer

So I have this problem with my 2003 Audi A4, this is a 2.4l v6. It seems that after driving the car for a while and it's warmed up, it sometimes starts surging as soon as I give it gas. This is more prevalent after taking off from a standstill. As stated, it doesn't happen when I just start driving. Car starts fine and accelerates good but might start this problem after driving for some time, maybe 30kms plus. No fault codes present. Could this be fuel related or perhaps co2 sensors. Any ideas or similar experience?

As I was saying, my advice when faced with such issues on your Audi A4, do consult with someone who has experience with these cars. Two mechanics both swore blind that in their experience it could never be the fuel pump. They both commented that a fuel pump either works or it does not. In my case that proved to be inaccurate. The fuel pump did work but in fact could no longer deliver the 4bar pressure required. Yes I did go through the process of checking coils, changing leads, changing fuel pressure control valve. All issues finally stopped after replacing the fuel pump using a genuine OEM part. Some how even issues with the CVT disappeared As noted in a previous thread, if your engine is sweet, all other stuff will be good regarding the CVT. This however is my experience.

Sounds like you have a plug wire or coil pack going bad. It will eventually set off an engine code so it will help you narrow down which cylinder is missing.

SOURCE: throttle/Idle/running problem - wants to run too fast, or stall out

RPM's up and down check EGR valve and sensor. EGR valve and sensor control idle. That's why your getting the surging on rpm's and this could be giving out the other codes. If mass flow was bad car will not start and the same for the map sensor. O2 sensor measures gas and air for right mixer. TPS controls 0-60 speed as in throttle respons.

SOURCE: car idles rough and stalls

Have you ever changed the fuel filter? If it's not that, and it's not a vacuum leak, it is probably your idle air control valve.

SOURCE: Saab 900 auto with "Check gearbox" light

Hello. I had the same problem when the Check Gearbox light came on, it would be very sluggish. It turned out to be a small sensor in the transmission that lets the car know what gear it is in. It started to go out slowly and only sometimes would send the information.

SOURCE: rough idle, dies when trying to give it gas

it'll either be your ignition system (spark plugs, distributor cap, etc) or more likely your fuel system (most likely your fuel pump or your fuel filter)

Try turning key to on position for 15-20 seconds before attempting to start that should give the glow plugs enough time to warm up there for making it easier to start

My 2003 Hyundai tiburon gt v6 (automatic) idles at 500 rpm in drive after warmed up is this normal? It's not throwing codes it just feels like it's shaking a bit

500 is too low for and automatic in drive
normal idle is 850-900 and should not drop below 800 in drive as the ECM should be adjusting for the drive load when in gear
take it in to an accredited service shop that works on your make of vehicle and have the problem diagnosed properly and quote

Didn't get all of your story, but if the squealing noise stopped after a mile or two, the belt may have warmed up and started grabbing the pulleys. The alternator would have lowered its load on the belt too.
The belt could be glazed and-or slipping.

Prob's with my Audi A6 2003 Auto 3.0 V6 (gearbox)

Doubt it as the fault suggests you need to look into the range sensor. If similar to Renault there is a switch on the gearbox that senses where the select lever is (at the gearbox end). If the display is wrong then the sensor needs looking at and either it will need to be adjusted into a set position by moving it, or perhaps the connector to it or wiring to/from it have a fault.
