have you dropped the pan to see whats the bands are set at, any debris in pan bottom, whats your governor pressure, if bands are ok, but gov pressures are not relative to speed 1 psi per mph up to 95-127psi, port is on pass side of case rear top right, scan tool would be very helpful, your must have mil light on for this problem, gov dtc's, replace gov transducer as gov solniod as a pair, no exceptions, also are there any 02 sensor dtc's, shorted to voltage, this wil make pcm do stupid things to trans shift, affecting gov signals. Most important is making sure the trans is full, especially after doing a
trans service, since the torque convertor needs to be under a load when filling it, to completely be full. If you had the vehicle running and shifted
it through the gears while filling it up with tranny fluid, your good, but if
not, check it again.

The transmission on my 2002 dodge ram 1500, 4.7 keeps slipping and sometimes takes off in fourth gear.Is there a sensor I can change to fix this

No,problem could be in the gearbox, sounds like the clutches are slipping. The only way to find this out is to remove the transmission oil pan and check color of oil or if any brass colored substance in oil(shiny). That will be the clutches, and if oil smells burnt

My 95 Cummins Dodge had the same problem and adding "Lucas Transmissiion Fix" cured it completely and permanently.

Thier claim is as follows:

Lucas Transmission Fix is a non-solvent formulas that stops slip, hesitation and rough shifting in worn transmissions and completely eliminates most seal leaks. Use in any transmission for preventative maintenance.Use also in light duty manual transmissions to increase shifting ease and transmission life.
Key Benefits
  • Contains no solvents
  • Lowers operating temperatures and stops foaming
  • Can be added to existing fluid without draining any out
  • Effective in an extremely high percentage of cases

Transmission slipping

Did you check the trans oil level. When you changed
the RADIATOR you will loose some trans oil.
If the transmission oil was low when you changed
the radiator it's lower now. Check it now.
Now, if thats not the problem. With that many miles
have you changed the trans oil lately theirs a filter
above the trans oil pan that may be pluged up change
it and the oil. Also, buy a can of trans X it's the only fix
in a can stuff I"LL use.

in your transmission you have a shift solinoid that is probably sticking, when and if you replace it, also have the bands adjusted (every 12000 miles or the next transmission flush)
