Question about 2005 Hyundai Tucson

1 Answer

Hello what is the difference about the main bearings. 0.25 undersized, 0.50 undersized & STD? Is the 0.25 undersized big? and the 0.50 bigger? I ordered a STD main bearings for my crankshaft but the company send me the 0.25 undersized bearings and the crankshaft will not turn freely. Is the bearing too thick?. Should i get the STD? please advise. Thanks

Sounds like you have the wrong bearings. You need to order the same size you took out.

Example: If the crank has been reconditioned and 'turned', whatever diameter the crank has been turned down to, ie: .025, .050.thousandths, the new bearings will have to coincide by being thicker than standard. The 0.25, 0.50 etc. means the bearing is thicker and is for crankshaft journals that have been reduced in size by that much. If you ordered standard and they sent the wrong bearings, by all means return them and get the proper ones. Take yours with you if you are going to a local store or check the back of your old bearing. It should have the designated size stamped in it. (std, o.oo, o.05, etc

It is good that the hard to turn over problem has been sorted . Now if you haven't already started it then here is the next tip Remove the spark plugs and the oil pressure sender unit and crank it over until there is oil coming out of the sender hole.. This ensures that the oil pump is working and the bearings will not be starving for oil and under compression load. As to no spark check that by removing the copil lead from the distributro and sparking against the head . If there is still no spark there then check the electrical system including the immobiliser . If it is EFI you may have to reset the CPU with ba code reader to reprogram the ECM as the battery has been disconnected for some time

engine is turning over but not catching(starting). Oil is fine sparking is fine but very low (slow). Battery is fine very live. engine turning slow with very little spark on all wires. Do you think it is the timing? I know i check all the timing but don't know what the problem is. My mind is telling me it could be the timing for the slow engine turning over and the low spark. What do you think?.

I have overhualed my 1.8K series engine taken the crankshaft from std to .10000 now i need to buy cons and big end bearings. Can anyone help with part numbers for the same? Jun 06, 2014

Normally the crank grinder would supply shells?
Any engine refurb shop would know where to get bearings. Go online to a non franchised LR dealer and see what they know.

Torque specs on 1994 jeep cherokee lardeo 4.o liter main barrings and rod barrings

Main bearings at 80 foot lbs. rod bearings at 30 foot pounds. Make sure you check clearances with plastigage before you button it up and light it. Anything out of clearance may require an over or undersized bearing. Also, on final install, use a swipe of pre-lube on bearing faces but make sure the inside of the rods and caps as well as the backside of the bearing shells are absolutely clean and dry.
