Coil pack diagrams 2000 ford taurus

Yes there is, or at least their should be. I just got my Taurus so I don't know the tips and tricks and pitfalls of Ford cars, but this is how I'd test my ignition coil on both my 86 Fiero GT, 87 Fiero GT, 96 Saturn SC2, and my 93 Geo Storm.

When my previous cars wouldn't start, one thing I'd do was to pull the wire that comes from the DistCap (DC) to the IgnCoil (IC). You'll want to leave the the DC side of the wire plugged to the DC and the other end just needs to be temporarily out of your way.

Ok, in a perfect world, when you try starting the car the (now exposed) IC post should energize and send an electrical charge down the wire you just unhooked to the DC's center post which charges each individual plug in order. With the wire off of the IC, when the car is being cranked, your IC is good if you see the IC Post start sparking (kind of a tesla or plasma ball effect). In summary, if you see sparks, the Ignition coil is good. In the previous example, if the coil showed that it could get and send spark, the next culprit was usually the Ignition Control Module, but that might not apply to your case. I did have 2 plug wires backwards once and it stuttered really bad until I went back and double-checked the firing order diagram for the DistCap-->SparkPlugWires-->SparkPlugs.

Hope it helps.

I think Advanced or Autozone will test ignition coils and Ignition Control Modules for free ().

Dont know how to take master cylinder off to replace coil pack

You shouldn't have to remove it....here are the steps from the tech manual:

Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Label and disconnect the spark plug wires from each of the coil pack towers.

Ignition coil removal—3.3L and 3.8L engines

  1. Disengage the electrical connector from the ignition coil pack.
  2. Remove the coil pack mounting fasteners.
  3. Remove the coil pack from the vehicle. If equipped, remove the coil pack from the mounting bracket.
To install:
  1. Place the coil pack into position on top of the engine valve cover, or mounting bracket, if equipped.
  2. Install and tighten the coil pack mounting fasteners to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  3. Plug in the electrical connector to the ignition coil pack.
  4. Connect each spark plug wire to each corresponding coil pack tower. The coil pack towers are numbered with the correct cylinder identification. Be sure that the spark plug wires snap firmly onto each coil tower.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.

Jerking bad when driving replaced coil lead plugs ok coil lead sparking outside coil

Is it sparking between boots or is it from the boot to the engine? You need to use dielectric grease on the boot on the coil to stop leakage of voltage between coil towers, I can't find the 2006 laser so chose a model similar to that model. With the engine off and you pull the spark plug wires put a little bit of the special grease on your finger and put it on the inside of the boot of the spark plug wire at the coil and at the spark plug. Be sure to not get any on the spark plug metal tip or on the metal on the coil pack. When removing the spark plug wire from the coil and plug be sure to twist it with the engine being cold so that you don’t ruin the spark plug wires. This should stop the leakage, if not then you have a defective coil/ coil pack and need to see if there is a carbon track or a crack in the coil assembly itself, let me know if this helps and get back to me if you need more assistance.
