How to find diffrent unit standerds relating to boilermaking

The basic principle is that it would use the customary or legal standard units for the particular country.

For instance in the US, although the metric system is legal, the American imperial (modified British) system is still used. Hence boilermaking specs and drawings would usually be in inches, feet, US ounces and pounds etc.

In Australia it has all gone metric long since, and units are in metres, mm, grams and kilograms etc. Boilermaking as a trade is nearly dead, but would be metric.

In the UK all packaging and food sales must be in metric units, but otherwise metrication is self-regulating and more or less voluntary. Because of the vast amount of equipment and tooling which has still imperial units inherent in it, much manufacturing there still uses imperial units. Boilermakers could see either system.

My front brake line drivers side, needs a brake line from the master cylinder to the flex hose. only about 4 inches long. i need to know what that part looks like.

Tubing with two nuts on it. 3/16" in diameter. You wont get one 4" long. 12" may be the shortest. Just bend it around to fit, Don't cut it. Yours will be the flare type. It would be best to take the old one with you to match the ends. Because one nut may be 1/8" and the other 1/4". They also have metric and standard threads.

I have a 91 toyota mr2 which need to change the clutch line from clutch master cylinder to slave cylinder. Where can i get the aftermarket parts? or i can just replace the rusty part, but where can i get...

I hate this particular project. Yes, you need metric ends at least. The problem of course is that auto parts stores don't carry long lines with metric ends. I ended up getting a "pipe flaring tool" so that I could put my own metric ends on the standard pipe. I then bought a short 7" metric line from a parts store, and cut it to use the ends on new standard size line. You will either want to get a nice one on loan from a friend or take the car to a shop. The cheap $30 tool I bought at one of the big auto parts stores didn't even work correctly out of the box. Ended up buying a $150-200 one that works great! Still a lot of work and expense if you are doing it yourself. The line is hard to get to once it gets up to the front of the car, so cutting out the bad rusty part and putting ends on is the easier do-it-yourself project - if you have the brake line flare tool. I would take it to a shop. Good luck!

The heads are actually 9/16, the bell housing bolts are standard, not metric. All the other bolts are metric.

I need to change the alternator on a 2001 ford focus and need to know what size wrench is needed to loosen the timing belt tensioner enough to remove the timing belt. Please help

I don`t know the size, but it will be metric. If you have a standard, american set of wrenches, get the one that is closest to fitting the bolt head. Here is something to help you decide what the actual metric size wrench to use.8mm is 5/16,,,10 mm is smaller than 3/8.11mm is a 7/16.12mm is larger than 7/16 but smaller than 1/2.13mm is 1/2,14mm is 9/16,15 is bigger than 9/16,but smaller than 5/8.,,5/8 is 16mm.17mm is 11/16,18mm is bigger than11/16,but smaller than3/4,19mm is 3/4.I hope this helps.
