Black smoke coming out from epica 2006, car does not move as per the accelaration. When I stop the car it needs more acceleration to pick up. Sometimes I get some kind sound when change the gear to drive. But when I use reverse gear car is soomth but sametime if I change gear to D then car does not move, once I give more accelaration then car moves slowely.

I'd check your motor mounts, sounds like the shifter is just misaligned, they're adjustale

is this car still under warranty? if so take it back to the dealer and don't accept it as repaired till you drive it. sounds like the logic that controls the transmission is flipping out, sometimes they will tell you that it needs a reflash. what this amounts to is that the manufacturer put some not so great programming in the logic when they built the car but now they have a patch or fix that makes it work better but you have to pay them for their time to install the fix. ask them what they will charge you for the privilege and decide if it's worth it to you. there is a recorded technical service bulletin about harsh shifts for your car. well, actually there are two, the latest one a revision of the first. i would try to make this their problem, it really is. hope this helps.

If I understand you correctly, you have ALL forward gears working, but reverse doesn't?... then the problem is in the transmission itself or the linkage on the trans linkage into reverse.

I've got exactly the same problem in '93 Camry w/5SFE automatic w/248,000mi. Transmission shop I trust told me ****** was gone. Another mechanic said the same. I'll drive it 'til the forward gears stop working. Forward L,2,D work great, except downshifting doesn't slow the car at all, although the engine goes to idle.

Let me know if there is any easy fix! Already did a fluid & filter change. . . .results no change. Thanks, cc
