What wires do you bridge to set the base timing on a ford efi 460 it has 1 x multi pin plug with 3 wires and a single pin plug

that's one possibility another is the ignition module on the side of the distributor,it's usually gray in color and is held in place with 2 screws(you will need a special tool to remove them)they are usually less than $5 at your local parts store,most parts stores(o'reilly's,auto zone,etc.) can check the module for you at no charge.that is more likely to be the cause of your problem and that's the first thing I would check.good luck and I hope this info.helps solve the problem.

Are the glow plugs single or dual wire if they are twin or dual wire one wire is positive and one is negative. I will base this on twin wire
I hope it is a negative earth system as I won't bother with positive earth instructions at this stage.
Get a multi-meter that has alligator clips on the cables attach black to a good ground then with the solenoid power wire removed on the starter (so it wont crank) get someone to hold the ignition switch in the on position, then test each pair of wires one will show voltage this is the positive one (mark each positive wire) now release the starter switch and change the multi-meter to ohms test the wires that did not show as active they should show good low resistance (hopefully 0) connection. now you can reinstall the glow plugs making sure positive on the glow plugs is paired with active positive wires that were marked then attach ground wires to the glow plugs.
Reattach the solenoid power wire and try starting it

How do I adjust the fuel mixture on the ford 460 efi


The mixture is not adjustable.
You have fuel injectors that are controlled by the computer.
If the check engine light is not on, I would look for a fuel pressure problem or a leaking injector.

I have a 1990 ford 460 EFI cylinders 1,2,6 has no change or little in RPM when spark plug wires removed.The three spark plugs has black carbon on them. I replaced them with new ones with new wires.Co


check that the egr valve is not stuck open remove it and cover the hole on the intake side and see if it goes away or with engine running remove the vac line from the valve and install a short length of hose and suck on the hose to draw a vac on the valve it only takes 3-5 inches of vac to open it the engine should stall or run even worse if it is not stuck and if it was stuck open you didnt change anything

I need ignition coil diagram ford focus 2000 LX (connections back 4321)


you have a single 3 or 4 pin connector to the coil pack. Someimes the wires get corroded and break off at the connector. Ford has a pigtail kit to fix that issue. Usually a misfire with the check engine light on.

Green/bluestripe is from ignition switch

Black/green stripe is to PCM (computer)

Black/orange stripe is to PCM

These last 2 wires are what the PCM uses to fire the spark plugs 2 at a time.

Hello! The ZETEC engine was used in the 1999 Ford Escort...I do not know what year your vehicle is, however the pin layouts are the same...

The Fuel Injector Fuse (30A) feeds the injectors via normally open contacts of the PCM Power Relay on a Red/White wire (which becomes Red at the injectors) on pin #12 of the Constant Control Module...
The wire colors of injector control leads (at the injectors) are..#3=Brown/Yellow...#1=Tan...#4=Brown/Light Blue...And #2=White

Wire colors at the PCM plug are...#3=Brown/White (pin 74)...#1=Yellow (pin 75...#4=Green/Orange (pin100)...and #2=Violet/Yellow (pin 103)...

Size restrictions on attachments do not allow me to send the entire PCM...aka...ECM pin layout to you...

How do you set the timing on a 350 chevy engine in a 1995 G20 van?


If the distributor hasn't been taken out, the timing can be set manually but you have to disconnect the distributor wire behind the glove box inside the cab. Tan wire with white tracer it is taped up to the a multi wire harness but is the only one with a single plug. Disconect the plug and use your timing light on the timing mark to set timing per specs. Rotate the distributor as needed to advance or retartd as required for the correct setting. tighten the dizzy clamp and plug the tan wire back together. The computer will now be fooled asd to what the base timing is and advance from there.
Contrary to popular belief, 96' and up do not have this wire. Timing has to be done with a programmable scanner.

Timing


You need to disconnect the control wire from the computer so the distributor falls back to base timing. It should be a grey plug over by the blower box. Looks weird, just a wire going to a plug and back out; the plug is just a bridge to break the connection. Timing should be set at 10° BTDC.
