SOURCE: 1996 Rodeo Isuzu - I put it in Winter Drive and now 1 rear wheel

Based on another similar problem and it was fixed driving backwards, that's exactly what I did. I drove the Rodeo backwards and then would stop and put it in gear and did this for 10 minutes until I worked the 4x4 gear loose and now all four wheels run. I must say, I created quite a sight driving backwards in a Wal-Green's parking lot for 10 minutes.

Testimonial: "Thanks, I didn't know that. Is there a VIN code designation for which trans is in it? Or, some easy way to distinguish between the two transmissions?"

SOURCE: 2002 trooper A/T 4WD will not move from start or stop.

One of two things has happened. Either you have lost first and second gear in your tranny (Winter drive starts you out in third gear) or your TCM (Transmission control module) is shot.

Check the TCM first, it's the lesser (cheaper) of the two evils.

My 2001 izuzu trooper only engages forward in winter mode, but reverse works fine. Besides that it runs great im sure hoping its something simpler rather than a rebuild? Please help!!

you skipped all steps.
1: check levels first.
2: check fuses, 2nd/ we test them and not guess.
3: SCAN it, seems you skipped the most important step

if you dont scan it you dont get to see why the TCM is unhappy
not ever.
so scan it,, what more needs to be know.
the service manual is clear, did you read that yet?
on car tests, Automatic.

winter mode skips 1st./
so if winter mode works, that means , TCM may not be selecting
1st for some reasons, scanning it you get to see that.
why does every post here, fear scan tools.
odd.

lots of Rodeo parts on car. and this.
The vehicle also features the Torque on Demand (TOD) 4-wheel-drive system produced by BorgWarner.

seem like you need to find a TOD and 4speed expert.
why not scan the PCM to see all those transmission errors.????
check fuses first.
yah, yah , nobody scans here. just guess.

My transmission works in winter drive but not on its own

Have you had the transmission control module scanned for fault codes? This transmission is electronically controlled. If no codes show up in memory then you may have a mechanical problem, Also winter selection starts in 2nd gear, so you may be missing that gear.

Car moves slowly in drive but ok in 1-2-3-D.

Someone else mention that the WINTER button makes the car start in 2nd gear to improve traction and reduce slipping in snow and ice. perhaps your winter button is active and it needs to be unclicked. in regular weather starting in 2nd would be like you describe.

Feels like chatter in rear end when accelerating 2004 f150 4x4

Check the "U-Joints" on the drive shaft and or rear wheel/axle bearings.
You MAY need a little help as the wheel(s) needs to be of the ground to check axle bearing. Grasp top and bottom of the tire and wobble it in and out.

sounds like the u-joints in the front axle are bad or were installed incorrectly they only come into play when the wheel is turned. These are the axle ujoints not the driveshaft ujoints
