I think my window motor has gone bad on my drivers side window on my 1989 GMC Suburban 5.7 liter. I need help on trying to fix it and where do i even begin?

Hi,
I would begin by checking the fuse for the window. Switch with another fuse, as those are breaker type and a failure is not detectable by looking at it. Then remove window switch and check for power in and out of switch. If power is present, jump the connectors in the wiring plug and see if the window works or you hear the motor in the window hum. (replace switch if window works) If switch works and you get no motor movement, replace the window motor. Usually the window will begin to go up and down very slowly before they go completely out, so that is the symptom. To replace the motor, remove inside door panel and unbolt old motor, replace and rebolt, reverse disassembly. Good videos on youtube.com for that procedure on most vehicles.......Mike

2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Passenger side window problem.

HAVEK 1005 sounds right on track.... but also try this, usually works well for non functional power windows, specially Caravans.

NO COST PROCEDURE TO FIX IT:

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.
7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

NOW, for the naysayers that says you must replace power window motors etc, at $$$ cost because the above fix does not work, or is not long lasting fix, or less than a "professional fix".... Well then, when the window fails to operate again, apply same fix again at that time.

I have fixed my van this way numerous times (usually once a year), and to all local friends I recommend this fix too, likewise do the same and are happy with the solution.

Electric window

it could be the switch on the door panel??? Are it could be the motor to the window. Take the door panel off, and jump the switch out. If it works by jumping the switch out. it will be and easy fix. It not, then you will need a new window motor. You can sometime pick an motor up for half price and your local junk yard. When you find your problem out and get it fix. go to the autoparts store an pick up a can of spray silicon lubercant, and spray it in your window tracks. over a pirod of time the window start dragging, causing the motor and switch to fail.

Passenger window wont go down but can hear motor working

You need to replace the regulator inside the door. It's the little pulley system that will pull your window up and down when you push the button.
Takes about 20 minutes to fix, so you're looking at about 100.00 at the garage.

How do you replace the motor for the driver's side window?

pull the door panel off and youll see where the window motor is . it usually is reveted to the frame drill the revets out and youwill be able to pull the motor out. sometimes you can buy a rebuild kit for them. inside the motor there are three plastic peices the get eaten up the rebuild kit has these pieces and it is pretty easy to fix. if you hear the motor working but the windows dont go up of down you may be able to do this type of fix if not then you have to buy a knew motor
