It's inside the ABS pump module assembly. It inside the hermetically sealed black plastic case attached tot he ABS pump module. There is no repairing it. The ABS pump module must be replaced. The part costs $1200. Sorry.

Does the abs light reset automatically every time the vehicle is turned off and on or is there a way to manually reset it?

Hello
Whenever the ABS warning light comes on in the instrument cluster and it stays on it means the systems electronic control module (computer) has detected a problem in one or more of the inputs to the module, an ABS fault code is present as long as the ABS light is on. So what must be done to correct this? You must have the ABS electronic control module scanned with a special tool to read the fault code, then a trained technicain will diagnose and repair the defective part or wiring. Most times this is a wheel speed sensor (one for each wheel) that gives an erratic signal. While the light is on all you have is regular non-ABS brakes. I assume here the light is on all the time? Until the problem(s) are fixed that are keeping the light on are repaired it will no go off, it can't be reset manually.

ABS light and break light come on once and a while when breaks are applied.

The ABS modules on these units are known for a high failure rate. Use VAG com or other software to scan codes in the ABS module. If you ( technician ) find that you can not connect ( communicate ) with the module, I would suspect that your module may need to be rebuilt, replaced, repaired.

How do i reset my abs/traction control in my 2005 chevy equinox? There is no button above the stereo like is indicated in my owners manual

there is no way to reset the ABS. The light indicates a problem and will need to be diagnosed and fixed. Most likely the ABS module failed. It can be rebuilt at modulemaster.com. Check out the price before commiting to the price the dealer will charge.

If your handy you can remove the module and still drive the car while waiting for the 10 day turnaround on the repair.

Most modules fail at around 5 years from new depending on usage.

I have a 2000 porsche carrera 2, which has PSM & ABS warning lights constantly on. I am unable to use the PSM switch, as it does not respond. My mechanic just replaced a speed sensor on the front...

If you have voltage from all of the speed sensors on the wheels, only then think about getting the ABS pump control repaired or replaced. It could be the reluctor.
I repair Volvo and Mercedes without issue so I think you could get the module repaired at a competent repair shop.
Took me 20 minutes to remove, repair and replace the module on the V70. Mercedes took a bit longer as the module was awkward to get to.

2003 Envoy, abs light came on and emercency brake light on.

There is a chance that your ABS module is going out, or has gone out, although that doesn't explain the rough idle problem. I had the same thing happen on my '01 Tahoe, and it's a known problem with ABS units. Repair at dealer is over $1200.00. Repair yourself with a rebuilt module is $150.00+shipping and a little elbow grease. Get on EBay, search for ABS module repair, and there is a company in Russia, Iowa who will rebuild the one you have, and warrant it for 5 years (GM won't do that with their $1200 repair.).

The rough idle I bet is coincidental and not related.

XK8 abs module

We have the same problem with our BMW. Dealer quoted close to $1500, with a one year parts warranty. Go to Module Masters at www.modulemasters.com.

They show detailed info on how to remove your unit, and will rebuild one for a 2001 XK8 for $150. The unit for our BMW is $300.

I have heard great comments about Module Masters. Well worth a shot!
