No, 2 pipes the same size will not go together. You will need to probably buy an adapter. Lets say you have a pipe 2 1/4 outer diameter "od" " that is measuring from the out side edges across the pipe, you will need a pipe with an inside diameter "id" of 2 1/4 . you get that measurement buy measuring the inside of the pipe. so a pipe with a 2 1/4 od will fit a pipe with 2 1/4 id. .. hope that helps

Best thing to do is take a piece of pipe from the truck and take the cat to the auto parts store and get all the adapters that way. That way you know for sure you got all the right parts.

SOURCE: install catalytic converter on 2005 chevy equinox

A muffler shop can install this, it needs to be welded on. Unless you have the equipment. The old has to be cut off and new installed.

0 2 sensor near the catalytic converter or

replace the catalytic converter

The downstream O2 sensor reading should be fairly steady. Typically the P0420 code triggers the Check Engine Light if the readings of the two sensors are similar.

My 2003 chevy impala just loses power while driving, it seems like its choking for a while then regains power again and runs normal

have car checked for a plugged catalytic converter by a reputable technician. A clogged catalytic converter results in a loss of power. The catalytic converter is made of an aluminum oxide honeycomb coated with platinum and palladium. These components react to remove CO and HC's from the exhaust stream. A two-way catalytic converter works by oxidizing CO (carbon monoxide) and HC (hydrocarbons "unburned fuel") to CO2 (carbon dioxide) and water. A three-way catalytic converter also removes NOx (oxides of nitrogen) from the exhaust. NOx is formed at high cylinder temperatures. The EGR system is responsible for inhibiting NOx. Parts and labor catalytic converter 2011 Chevy equinox

There is a federal warranty of 5 years on all catalytic converters. It should not cost you anything to have it replaced. You stated that it was a 2007 and then a 2011, which year is it? If it is a 2007, you are almost outside of the federal warranty.

According to the auto parts listing, I am showing one converter. The discount price is around $200 plus labor.

Trouble code p0420

The P0420 code means that the catalytic converter efficiency is below threshold. Since there are two oxygen sensors, above and after the catalytic converter, they together generate signals which are used to monitor the efficiency. However, if the catalytic converter is bad, the sensor after the converter will generate steady results, without any fluctuations.
You can replace the catalytic converter to overcome this problem. However, there are chances of the P0420 code to come up if there is any leak in the exhaust or the downstream o2 sensor (after the converter) is bad. Ideally, before spending on cat, you should try replacing the downstream sensor, which you can buy at low price from online stores like oxygensensorworld.com and also inspect for any small leaks in the exhaust system. Since the converter can cost you more, think of replacing it only if needed.

This refers to your catalytic converter located on the exhaust system. This can possibly be a problem with one of the oxygen sensors used to evaluate catalytic converter performance.
