Question about Chevrolet TrailBlazer
I have a 04 Chevy trailblazer and when I start it not only does it idle rough but it reves up like as if I pressed the gas. When i put it in drive it takes off not fast but as if Im pressing the gas after a while it stops but worried. What could this be?? I cleaned the throttle body changed my spark plugs just got a oil change???
If you didn't correctly reinstall the PCV hose from the black box at the throttle body back on to the valve cover, you might have a vacuum leak causing your high idle. I'd check that first. That is a common mistake to miss that rubber hose. It's hidden underneath the black box at the front of the valve cover. If it is loose, just loosen up the boot at the throttle body, and the two bolts on the right side of the black box above the valve cover. Reposition the 90 rubber hose back on to the valve cover and recheck it. A hissing noise with the engine running is a good indication that the engine has a vacuum leak somewhere- usually a rubber hose disconnected from the intake manifold or throttle body.

SOURCE: starting and rough idle
I had a very similar issue. Mine ended up being my "lower crankcase vent tube" It apparently had a hole in it that was causing oil to spew all over (and causing my valve cover gasket to leak as well due to a pressure issue). Got that replaced last Friday (my mechanic discovered it when he was replacing the belts I slung on Wednesday) and the car has started perfect ever since.

With temperature related problems, check your intake manifold bolts for tightness. Our intakes are plastic and have a tendency to become loose, causing vacuum leaks. When it warms up, the plastic intake will expand sealing any leaks. But when it's cold, will contract, causing leaks. Easiest to check are cylinder #5 & 6 near the fire wall.
Also, clean your throttle body, a dirty throttle body will cause idle problems, especially in TB's because we don't have a true PCV valve, so gets dirty which causes sticking of the butterfly.

check for any vacuum leaks, check for fuel pressure too, sometimes the gas pump, fuel filter,or fuel pressure regulator fails, does your car have the check engine light on? if so must pull the trouble code in order to fix the problem, Thanks
