SOURCE: replacing mass air flow sensor in 97 vw jetta

If the mass flow sensor was bad, the check engine light should of came on giving off an engine code. To remove the mass flow, disconnect battery neg cable, then pull of the wire harness and pull out mass. You will probably have to remove the air intake hose.

Vw jetta 1.8 turbo whats the normal temperature

The normal temperature of most cars should approach 212 deg. F and some cars run hotter than that, depending on the weather. Also, in the winter, cars can go up to 192 deg. F or so and still run ok. In the summer, car's cooling systems can top off the temperature above the boiling point of water, but still run as long as there are no leaks in the cooling system.

The idle of my masda 97 sedan is to high and going up and down even if it is not accelerated?

Hello! The Idle Speed Control (ISC) valve is defective or fouled with carbon...It is located below the throttle body and has a 2 wire connector...Start engine...When engine is warm, disconnect the ISC...RPM's should drop....If not, The valve is at fault...If you have the expertise, remove the valve and inspect the ports for carbon deposits...Clean with throttle body cleaner,,,While valve is off...With plug connected...Watch the right port...As the valve cools the port must open...If not, replace the valve...See picture below...Valve is expensive (around $350)...Guru...saailer...

I have a 97 grand am gt with 3.1 idles fine but normal acceleration and cruise is nearly impossible. Bogs down at all speeds. Hard acceleration is fine goes good.

I had the same problem with my 89 grand am it was caused by a faulty crank position sensor. Initially it would cut out when accelerating and eventually wouldn't start at all, replaced the sensor runs great again.

Why does the fan keep running on 2005 jetta after turning off

You are talking about the thermo electric cooling fan, its operation is independent of the car's electical system. It is switched on and off by the engine temperature. When you park, the engine heat soaks upward to heat the thermostat turning the fan on. It will run until the engine cools down and the thermostat switches it off. Quite normal operation.

pop off the distributer cap and dry it out well. Put it back on and it should work. This happened to my 97 jetta too...also if I go through large puddles at a quick speed this may happen too. There isn't good electrical contact with the moisture.

Two symptoms here Keith, and I just had this, same car year and model. The pedal could either be a bit loose, check the cable and throtle. Have someone check, when the cars in neutral, they manually rev it, and watch the RPM's. They should go 3-4 as normal. If this is the case, and its not the cable or pedal, REPLACE spark plug cables and wires. Odd, but that was the fix to mine. Hope it helps.
