When a squeak is heard you should remove the belt completely and briefly run the engine to see if it was coming from an accessory (power steering, water pump, idler, etc.).

How's your engine coolant level? If you've got a water pump leaking coolant, your belt will squeak, as the pump will leak the coolant directly onto the belt. You'll see the spray pattern under the hood if it's been going on for a while.

Coolant level seems to be good. Including the reservoir.

Two other things come to my mind at this point: When the belt is squeaking again, STOP the engine, and pull the belt off. Start the engine back up and see if the noise is still present. If it is, the problem has nothing to do with the belt or any of the accessories. If the noise does stop, put the belt back on. Grab a can of WD-40 or Tri-Flow, or equivalent spray lube. With the belt reinstalled and the engine running, spray a small amount of lube first on the inside (ribbed side) of the belt, and then the outside (smooth side) of the belt. If the noise stops by spraying lube on one side or the other on the belt, the belt is most likely the culprit. Other thoughts; make sure the pulleys are all correctly lined up- if there is a pulley in the line that's just a little too far forward or too far backward, that can cause belt noise as well. If the noise stops with the belt off, spin all of the pulleys (engine OFF) by hand to see if any of them are making any noises. This will help find a pulley that may be misbehaving. Also check to see if any of the pulleys are wobbling or bent.

Also... pay close attention to your idler pulleys. Those have been known to make some noise when the bearings start to go out.

SOURCE: installing accessory belt on 94 Buick P/Ave ultra.

You must press on tensioner to make room for new belt. The tensioner then re-traps and keep belt tension when new belt in on. So in other words you have to put belt over all othe pulley leaving tensioner for last using a 3/8 ratchet with out a socket (just the square end) in the hole thats in the tensioner pushdown/up to make room for belt to slide on. If the belt seems short make sure that it is routed the correct way. Good Luck get back to me if you need more help and leave me a "rating". Thanks

Vin K or Vin 1 ?
Removal Procedure
The accessory drive belt drives all engine mounted accessories. All driven accessories are rigidly mounted to the engine. Drive belt tension is maintained by a spring loaded belt tensioner. A belt squeak when the engine is started or stopped is normal and has no effect on belt durability. The drive belt tensioner can control belt tension over a broad range of belt lengths; however, there are limits to the tensioner's ability to compensate. Using the tensioner outside of its operating range can result in poor tension control and/or damage to the tensioner.
Important: Ensure that the wood block extends past the width of the oil pan in order to avoid damage.
  1. Use a jack with a block of wood on the jack under the oil pan in order to support the engine.
  2. Remove the engine mount to engine mount bracket nuts.
  3. Remove the engine mount bracket front upper and lower nuts.

Remove the engine mount bracket front upper and lower studs and spacer.
Lower the engine as necessary and rotate the tensioner to remove the drive belt.
Remove the drive belt.
Don't need to remove power steering pump if done right !

How do i change power steering belt on 1995 park ave ultra

This is controlled by a serpentine system and is non-adjustable as it has a spring loaded tensioner. It's not hard to replace but requires unbolting an engine mount and jacking the engine up. It would be a good time to inspect the tensioner and replace as well.

Serpatine belt comes off buick park ave. when driving through standing water

My bet is that one of the pulleys is misaligned. Could possibly be on the belt tensioner. Have you tried a new belt tensioner?

Also make sure the other pulleys do not have ANY play in them. Take the belt off and by hand check to see if you can wobble any of the pulleys.

If the shaft of any pulley is not perfectly aligned with the other pulleys, that pulley could cause the belt to slip off. Has the alternator, power steering pump, AC compressor been worked on or removed just prior to this happening? One of those might not have been reinstalled perfectly. A washer that is missing or in the wrong place can cause a belt to drift.

2006 Toyota Corolla LE. Loud squeaking coming from serpentine belt area after I start the engine cold. Changed the belt recently but still noice persist. Loud squeaking goes away after driving for 3-5...

It is probably the tensioner pulley that's gone bad. It can be replaced separately, if you can purchase the pulley separately. As to how to go about changing it in such a small space, it's definitely possible, with the right type of tools. That's why mechanics have so many different shapes and lengths of the same size tools.
