Should I change my thermostat as a precaution

9_16_2013_8_28_08_pm.gifIf you drive a car without a thermostat it will overheat the engine. The thermostat opens and closes while operating the engine. Without a thermostat the coolant does not stay in the radiator long enough to cool down and the engine temp will rise causing overheating. I would suggest searching for a used auto part if you're worried about the price.

Will flushing the cooling system with a garden hose flush away and blockage

you should never run a vehicle without a thermostat if u believe it to be blocked it will take alot more than a water hose if blocked is suspected rust will be the culprit.running without thermostat wont let the motor heat up and cool down properly and create more problems.

HOW CAN I DIAGNOSE FOR FAULT OF OVERHEATING GOLF GTI MK4 YEAR2000. I HAVE CHANGED THERMOSTAT. IT COULD BE ENGINE GASKET OR WATER PUMP. HEATING IN CAR NOT WORKING AFTER THERMOSTAT CHANGE.

Have a Cooling System pressure test done. Any good shop can do it for you. It can be alot of things and instead of throwing parts at it, have the system pressure tested. That will identify your problem.

Changing the clutch ??

Your going to pull front axles, which requires tearing apart alot of your front suspension , also then drop the transaxle, it's not fun. If you don't have alot of experience ,take it to someone who does.

Auto does not heat nor defrost, just completed the thermostat, and had heater core replaced. would the water pump be the problem. care has 130000 miles. if water pump, how hard to change. should you change...

check and see if there is a bleeder screw near the thermostat sounds like it has air trapped in the system i know it sounds weard but alot of cars have started doing this around this time frame. open bleeder screw and run the car until straight fluid comes out of it without bubbles.

Need to find the transmission filter

Double check with the dealers shop. Alot of these newer cars really don't have much of a filter that the user or tech can get to without tear down. It may not be changeable.
