SOURCE: 1995 cadillac deville 4.9 eng no heat

The heater in your car depends upon a flow of hot coolant going through the heater core in order to get hot air into the car. If the heater core is partially plugged, it will restrict the flow. If you have a head gasket that is putting exhaust into the cooling system, it will eventually get into the heater core. When this happens there is no coolant in the heater core to make the air warm. If the water pump vanes have corroded away the result will be very poor coolant circulation causing the heater to not blow hot air. If your car is equipped with a heater control valve that is not functioning properly, the coolant flow will be restricted. One or a combination of these factors is likely the culprit in your case.

SOURCE: my ac wont get cool.......it blows hot air and(caddy seville 95)

Below is a guide to troubleshoot and check system function. This can be done by most folks.

Look at the front of the ac compressor and have someone turn on the ac from inside the car. The front of the pulley(clutch) will spin when turned on.

If it does not spin, the low pressure switch (LPS) is not satisfied. Meaning there is not enough freon in the system to operate the system. Means low freon capicity because of a leak.

The LPS can be jumpered to cause the compressor to run (clutch to engaged) which will draw the freon in the system.

The LPS is usually a two wire sensor on the suction of the compressor. (between evaporator and compressor) Unplug the sensor and install a jumper, this will engage the clutch. Connect a new can of freon
and fill to system capacity.

The capacity of the ac system will be on a label under the hood, do not overfill. Probably about 2 lbs. Local parts stores (Auto Zone and Advance) will have freon with stop leak. This may help the leak. They also make a freon with a UV dye. I always add a single can with dye so that if stop leak does not work I can find the leak in the future.

The system should be filled until suction pressure is about 30 to 38 psi..

Remember the flow for the a/c system is :
1. From the compressor a high pressure (HP) gas goes to the condenser in front of the radiator.
2. From the condenser a HP liquid goes to an expansion device (orifice tube or expansion valve)
3. From expansion device the low pressure gas enters the firewall to the evaporator.
4. From evaporator the low pressure liquid/gas mixture goes through the dryer2_bing.gif back to the compressor suction.

More than likely, you have a blend door actuator problem. Locate the faulty actuator under the dash, usually on the firewall, and replace.

Driver's side defroster and heater vents blow cold air but the passenger side blows hot. Both sides should blow hot The temp is set any temp and it still does the same thing. It is winter so I don't know...

The doors that open and close in the heater control unit are ran by motors. It sounds like a motor has quit in yours. When turning on the defrosters the motor closes the door to the heat for the floor

My 1996 Cadillac Sedan Deville heater blows cool air and engine is running at normal temps. It never seems to get up to temperature.

If you are not the original owner, the previous owner may have bypassed the heater core. The heater core is like a small radiator that has hot water running through it from your motor. It is inside of your dash board, near your a/c and heater controls. That is how yur car gets hot air. The air runs through the heater core making it hot. Bypassing it is a cheap and quick fix for a leaking heater core. When they get a leak, they leak all inside the car down to the floor board. Check under the hood along the fire wall. If it is bypassed, you will see two hoses spliced together. One will be bigger that the other slightly. If this is your problem, you are more thatn likely need to replace your heater core

if the car is not overheating, the thermostat is working fine.... replace or flush the heater core multiple times to try and eliminate sediment build-up.
