SOURCE: 2002 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 liter irregular idle.

You haven't changed sensor controls spark and fuel mixture as does the throttle position sensor, also check the idle control valve...Don't just buy testing first.

SOURCE: engine runs rough at idle and bucks at highway

I had a similar problem in a 1994 Taurus, and after spending nearly 300$ on ignition parts, it turns out the problem was a bad spark plug wire that cost me 8.88$ to replace.

Hi Shirley, please state make and model of your car as well. If it is a turbo diesel, there could be a problem with the turbo, and the engine management unit are cutting the revs to protect it. Hope this helps.

Hi, Our ISUZU 280 KB doesn't get diesel through..if you start the bakkie it initially starts but the engine quickly dies even if you floor the accellerator. If you press the "manual diesel pump"

Blockclogs easily if you get some water in the diesel.age in fuel system. Remove both pipes from tank to pump and blow. If clogged replace. Also check fuel filter. That thing

My 93 dodge w250 5.9 liter Cmmings turbo diesel does not want to idle. Runs at high rpm. On the road cruises around 30 or 40 mph and heating up brakes trying to stop. Linkage not sticking. If I rev engine...

Great engines using Bosch injection. This should be physically inspected for anything that may be missed but it really sounds like you have an internal leak in the pump causing excess fuel to be delivered to the injectors. If this is the case, the pump can be rebuilt but only by someone qualified with these. If you need removal instructions, let me know. Air leaks will not cause this on a diesel engine.

2002 turbo diesel mazda bravo starts and runs fine but will not rev past 2500rpm it blows out a heap of smoke and will rev no further

diesels are not known to be high revving engines to begin with, anyways, it sounds like your turbo is malfunctioning, get it inspected or repaired

Need some one help........... I have terrano 1999 manual transmision, problem is rpm unbalance when engine strat rpm between 700 - 900 rpm ac off

The ideal idle rev rate for your vehicle should be approx 800 rpm. If the engine is surging in revs and then dropping off shortly after starting from cold, then it may be that your engine is trying to compensate for the fact that your thermostat has not yet opened. It would help to know if the engine revs settle down after the thermostat opens. Diesels do not have spark plugs, they have glow plugs that preheat the air within the piston chamber so that first starts will occur without a huge drain on the battery, this means that the engine relys on the compression of the diesel and air mixture going into the piston chamber to reach maximum compression and then explode thus causing the power stroke within your engine. But when an engine is cold the engine has trouble sometimes reaching that explosive temperature within the chamber and sometimes not all of the power is released with each stroke of the engine. When the temperature rises and the the thermostat opens the engine can reach the explosive temperature more efficiently and the revs settle down to a more even rate.

Check to see if your air is getting through the turbo alright, sometimes a simple thing like a blocked airfilter can cause symtoms such as what you describe, failing that I would get your Diesel pump checked out, that may have a slight blockage. As an afterthought, have you checked your diesel filter(s) and fuel lines, they may need cleaning out as well. That may cause the rough running until the diesel warms up and flows better through the fuel lines.

Hope that helps.

Model is 2ltd turbo diesel Whistling noise from engine compartment, which gets higher tone with revs. worst when cold.

it could be a loose pipe on the turbo. the noise would get louder with higher revs as with higher revs higher boost is produced. check for loose pipes and give them a tighten then try a test drive. hope it helps you

Engine revs take off on there own

Check out the throttle sensor. If its ok then you have a injection pump problem.IF you cannot turrn the engine of when the car starts reving then its running on its own oil.

Diesel turbo with no power at low revs

this tells me that the injector timing is off just a bit or you may have a weak injector all together.
