Where is the crankcase breather on 406 hdi

crankcases breath through a PCV valve attached to the inlet manifold as a requirement by pollution laws . Look for a hose attached to the rocker cover with a non-return valve in line ending at the inlet manifold.

Donde queda el pcv valvula en el motor

The PCV valve on Altimas looks different than what has been common for years on most engines. The PCV valve is located at the drive belt side of the engine under the intake manifold and attached to the breather/separator. Access from above is very difficult; access the valve from underneath the vehicle. There is a short hose that connects to the breather/separator.

Remove the breather/separator and the hose. Then you can unscrew the PCV valve from the breather/separator for easy inspection and cleaning of each piece. Also inspect both passages where the separator and hose connect. Here is a picture of the valve after it is removed. The breather/separator is a small aluminum housing that will fit in your hand.

Obviously the PCV system is more difficult to service on Altima engines than the more familiar design on so many other engines. A restriction in the PCV system will increase crankcase pressure. This pressure inside your engine will push oil out where ever it can find a place to leak, including into the distributor.

Hope helps.

Oil is getting on air breather 2004 ram hemi

oil getting on a breather can indicate excessive crankcase pressure. Check all the `crankcase breathers and the valve cover breathers.

if the crankcase has been overfilled with engine oil. The crankshaft has to "beat" it's way through the oil and thus acts as a pump and sends oil all over the internal surfaces of the crankcase.

If the engine cylinders have developed 'blow-by" they will also contribute to an increase in crankcase pressure which will be evident by oil in the breathers. The fumes / pressure in the crankcase are designed to be removed by the engine breather system, and drawn through the engine etc.

I hope this info helps.

How do you install a breather on a 1993 Camaro?

You can disconnect the PCV from the valve cover and install it there or buy new valve covers. Essentially a breather does exactly what the PCV does but not as efficiently and it doesn't re-burn the ventilated gases. Please rate me on this answer.

Where is the breather filter on a 1994 ford taurus?

If you mean the crankcase breather filter, I've looked into this, but I haven't found any reference to this existing on a 1994 Taurus (at least with a with a 3.8L engine), except for some online parts companies that list it for the 1994, but either they're wrong, or if there were 1994 Tauruses that have a breather filter, I suspect it's for an engine other than the 3.8L. It's used on earlier Taurus models, but only up to 1991. Some people say the PCV valve performs the function of the earlier breather filter, but I don't see how, since the PCV valve just opens and closes, and does no filtering once it's open. On one web page where breather filters are discussed (, it's said that adding one to an engine that didn't come with one, doesn't help increase horsepower or mileage, and can bring in air that's not metered by the MAF, which can actually reduce horsepower and mileage.

Pcv valve location

Most common location is mounted to the valve cover gasket. It will have a hose coming from it going to your breather pan and connected to the breather element inside the pan where the air filter is.

Where is located the oil breather on 1991 nissan 300zx

cornejo1971: There is no crank case oil breather per say. There are two PCV valves on the engine. There is one located on the intake plenum on each side. Typically there are hoses which come off the tops of the valve covers that go to the PCV valves.
