Sounds like a likely possibility, the reverse method definetly did the trick in loosening the brake, but it may still be slightly applied, put it in a warm place when you can, or have a shop look at it indoors, it may need to be re-adjusted, or even just warmed up until the cable frees up again

SOURCE: on my 1996 chevy blazer the hatch won't unlock

It should be number 2 in the fuse box but if you can still hear the motor when you push the button than you need to try and pull the top where the lock that holds the glass hatch pull the plastic far enough to get you hand in on the right side of the latch and you will find a lever that you should be able to push to your left I believe and that will release the glass hatch and than open the tail gate take off the plastic inside cover and unscrew the metal plate off of the inside of the tail gate and you will be looking for a blue plastic piece that supposed to be connected to the release motor and the latch if thats broken than you need to go to the auto wreckers find a blazer or jimmy from '95-'97 maybe all the way up to 2000 I believe and basicly do the same remove the blue clip from that one put it on yours and it should work and if the clip on your is broken dont try to glue it, it wont work I tryed everything to try and fix it on mine but you have to get another one once you find another clip it doesnt really take long but yea anyways I hope that helps you out let me know heres my email THUNDERSTRUCK_244@hotmail.com

Brake issues on 1996 Chevy Blazer

You should check your vacuum lines make sure they are all connected plus the line you keep disconnecting is collasping onto its self which in turn will make the brakes stick so you must have one of the ends plugged.

Good Morning, I have a 1996 Chevy S-10 Blazer that I used the parking brake on yesterday. However, when I went to use the hand parking release, it would not release the parking break and it felt like...

Yup! That is probably what is causing your dilema. To remove the lower panel, the parking brake release cable must be disconnected. It is not hard to reconnect if you know what you are looking for. The service manual does not provide a picture or I would post it for you. Anyway, it just "Snaps" into place on the parking brake pedal mechanizm. The cable just slips into a slot on the release lever. You can actually reach up and release the brake with your hand. (Be carefull not to get your fingers pinched when the pedal flies rearward) If you can get the pedal released by hand, then you have found the lever that the cable attaches to.

Sounds like you may have damaged the parking claw. Put the parking brake on when you park on an incline, You may need a new parking gear or gear claw.

Shift lever

It sounds like you may have a faulty shift interlock solenoid. It is under the center console. You can expose it and see if it is getting voltage when the vehicle is on and you foot is on the brake. If it is, replace the solenoid. If it isn't, you may have a faulty relay.
