SOURCE: rover 45 intermittent fault when starting nothing happens when key turned sometimes starts ok

Most common problem with this situation is poor connection on starter ignition wire it's a large spade connection on the solenoid disconnect it and use pliers to squash the terminal to make tight connection and clean terminal on starter it is accesible from top but a lot easier to remove air box if you don't want to crawl on floor underneath

No fuel from diesel pump when turning engine

Sometimes an air bubble - just before the injectors cause this problem. Loosen the fuel line there and crank the motor. Fuel pressure should force the air out and then fuel will squirk out. Turn key off and tighten up the line. Hope this is it. Other diesel fuel start tips are listed below that will help. http://www.auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com/diesel-additives.html

My rover 45 wont start when i turn the key it makes a screaching noise and wont fire up / petro /51 /52 plate

It is possible that this Range Rover is misfiring and needs a change of sparkplugs if it is screatching it is trying to start but cannot due to misfiring. If the plugs are good check the gapping on each pluf.

My 2000 diesel 2.o freelander propshaft was recently repaired. The turbo has suddenly failed sending oil all over the engine. 1st there was a big cloud of black smoke. Engine revved very high. refused to...

Hi ,
Not easy this one, when your turbo failed the oil feed to the turbo bearings continued to feed engine oil into the intake side(could not turn off),the engine is then Un-governed and free to rev way above maximum limit,it has then massively over heated, the oil treatments are unlikely to cause this problem ,usually down to not letting the Turbo "wind down " after driving,The best course of action is to replace the engine and turbo charger and have the induction pipes and intercooler properly cleaned ,there are no cheap fixes for this you were just unlucky.

My car wont start, 1997 vauxhall astra 1.7 turbo diesel

This sounds like a problem in the fuel shut off circuit. When you turn the key on, it energizes the fuel shut off solenoid on the injection pump. When you turn off the key, power is removed and the pump is moved by spring to the fuel off position. Check for power at this terminal when you are having a problem, ( with the key on) If no power then I would check the wiring and connectors from this connection to the Ignition key. I believe it is wired direct. That can be checked at http://www.alldata.com/products/index.jsp

subscribe3 and get a wiring schematic for the car and see if it is wired direct to the ign switch of from a relay, I am sure it is a connection problem if you have no power.

A 1.7 diesel even if turboed, is dead slow in any vehicle let alone a van. Enjoy the fuel economy

good luck

Flat battery on rover 420 turbo diesel

hi, it may be that either your battery is faulty, have it drop tested, or if that is ok your starter motor may be faulty drawing to much current, ie, it needs a recon, hope this helps
