! = Low Tire Pressure.

All symbols are in your owner's manual.

If you don't have one, you can download the manual for all Toyota RAV4's including your 2004 model for free with NO registration at http://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/toyota/toyota-rav4-owners-manual/

That function is not enabled yet. It means that you will be able to connect the reader to a computer in the future if they decide to enable it.

Mazda cx 5

The tire symbol means you have low air pressure in a tire.
The Brake symbol means you have left the emergency brake on or have low brake fluid level-usually because brakes are worn and need replacement.

I don't know what the warning symbol means on my prius dashboard. I assume it means I need a new battery. Does anyone know?

Your owners manual should have the definition of the symbols.
The battery light usually means the alternator is not charging the engine battery, and the red symbol with the outline of a car next to it is a problem with the hybrid portion of the car.
I would strongly recommend you get it checked out by the dealer or someone experienced with hybrid cars.

Trying to figure out what this symbol means

The book with the I symbol means there is more information on those fuses in the owners manual. I would guess those two fuses protect several circuits making one symbol impossible to represent those circuits.

Dashboard symbol

Hi there:
"arrow pointing up" on the DRB-II code reader as DTC 1018; a 1018 code should mean no serial data on the serial data circuit.

Check harnesses connectiosn or some possible bad ECM (engine control module).

Hope this helps.

There is a symbol that lights up on my dash in between the mileage and the gear readouts it looks like a tranie or a motor, but i do not have a manual for my car and so do not know what the symbol means

orange would mean service engine, like the old orange colored service engine soon lights that are computer or emissions related. red would mean oil or engine problem. it's probably a motor symbol so we can dismiss ABS or other red brake light.

Wrench light is on and odometer shows negative mileage

The negative number means the car should have had it's oil changed that many miles ago. Oil life starts at 100% for new oil & counts down every 10%. At 15% the display will always show, which means it's near time to change the oil.

usersteve83, your oil may have been changed but the timer not reset. Reset the timer as shown...
1. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. (do not start engine)
2. Press SEL/RESET repeatedly until the oil life indicator is displayed.
3. Press & hold the SEL/RESET for about 10 seconds until it blinks then let go of the button.
4. Press the SEL/RESET again for about 5 seconds or until the oil life indicator resets to 100%.

Wrench = Maintenance Minder: Symbol letter & number...
Symbol A - Relace engine oil.
Symbol B - Replace engine oil & filter, Inspect front & rear brakes, Check parking brake adjustment, Visually inpest the tie rods, suspension components, driveshaft boots, brake hoses & line (including ABS), all fluid levels & their conditions, exhaust system, fuel lines & connections.
Symbol 1 - Rotate tires.
Symbol 2 - Replace air cleaner element (dusty conditions every 15K miles) & replace dust & pollen filter (behind glovebox) every 15K miles if mainly dusty or city driving.
Symbol 3 - Replace transmission fluid.
Symbol 4 - Replace spark plugs.
Symbol 5 - Replace engine coolant.

All above are taken from the 2006 Civic EX owner's manual.
